Description   The foreground looks like a giant chocolate chip cookie!!!
This an old (from last year or so, I found it in a pile of old drawings) watercolor practice painting I made on printer paper of all things! I'm shocked that it didn't buckle and warp beyond recognition... O_o
Anyway, I thought it came out pretty well for an experiment- compared to the heaps of absolutely terrible paintings at least~! I was practicing with mixing colors, I only used red blue and yellow and mixed each color from the three primaries.
I was going for a canyons of Utah look, but it came out looking more like an alien world or something.

I've always found rocky/sandy landscapes really hard to make, but you pulled it off really well! The rockformations in the background look amazing

Thanks! This is the first time I've ever done it too, so I thought it was going to be absolutely terrible. (That's why I used printer paper instead of watercolor paper! XD) I had to make tons of paintings of trees before they even looked remotely realistic, so it was weird.

Backgrounds are tough, but I can see how they'd be a lot of fun to work with.

I know! It's so hard! I want to do comics and animations, but I'm really nervous that the backgrounds are going to be really bad. I keep practicing with ink/watercolors on printer paper like this in hopes of getting better.
I haven't even started with drawing architecture yet. I'm not looking forward to it... >_<

Drawing buildings is indeed one of the hardest and most boring things to do >.<

I know... -_-  I always manage to make them look bent and deformed!

What I always hate is thinking up a creative building that isn't just a box with windows on it :/
