Description Originally, I found a picture of these 3 crosses on a hill posted on the internet from a photographer. I manipulated the image in Photoshop and added in two children playing on the beach, also a found image. After playing around with the images a lot I added the shadows.

well i figured the shadows one as a money symbol and the other as an AK47, military gun. I feel that youth and innocence is corrupted by both. Also, the children's shadows are two soldiers pointing guns at one another, further showing how innocence and childhood is cut short by war, etc. any more questions just let me know! thanks for your questions and for viewing my work!

well it takes time to mess with it in Photoshop, but the best way to make shadows is to take a pic and isolate the object (take out the background), then lower the levels to make the entire image black, no detail, then lower the opacity and adjust accordingly to the lighting. You can smudge and mess with it so it has the correct curve and lay on wherever it should be casting. It takes a little playing around, but eventually you get it just right.

mm sweet! you sound like a pro i did shadows on the one manip i've done, but no direct, just bits around a tree.. i did it by a burning tool in corel painter. your way sounds better though for image shadows like that

Excellent manip. I like how you draw attention to how our cultural and moral values are fueling our greed and militarism. And of course, the children will be the ones truly effected.

Nicely done.

I only wished you made the ak47 shadow a little more incognito. looks like the barrel is shiny.

thanks so much for your comment! I'll work on that, all art is a work in progress (and I'm an amateur)!
