Description
Bucket knew runeboos in the hatchery were definitely against the rules, but he couldn't find it in himself to shoo the boo away. Honestly, who could blame him? The little creature had been the only one to give him any form of unforced company his whole life. Some shared snacks, or lazy afternoon naps under a tree and the two were basically bonded for life. Luck be had it that since most of the other wynglings tended to leave Bucket alone (or otherwise not even acknowledge his presence) his friend hadn't been discovered nor taken away from him.Of course, luck had to run out at some point, before bucket could get out and meet with his boo friend, a group of other wynglings had discovered the runeboo. Bucket watched from afar as the boo curiously sniffed at the group, he wasn't too worried, after all, what's the worse they can do to the boo, overwhelm them with attention?
Honestly, he wished he hadn't asked as one of the wynglings roughly kicked the boo down into the dirt after the boo had apparently gotten too close. Before the runeboo could flee, the group of 4 surrounded them, taking turns pushing or kicking them around. Each hit eliciting a yelp, and with every yelp Bucket felt a burning sensation building in his throat grow and his heart breaking more and more. He didn't register running towards them nor putting himself in between the wynglings and the boo. He let out a low growl and snarled at them.
The lead wyngling simply gave a sinister grin, his lips were moving yet his voice wasn't going through to the finn-ling. He didn't need to hear the words to know that he was being mocked, something he was all too used to. Bucket's growl only deepened as the opposing wyngling and his gang took a closed in on the two.
His chest tightened, any exit he could've think to take was blocked, his pupils contracted and he lowered his body down ever so slightly. He wanted, needed to get out. He saw no way out and when the wyngling in front of him raised one of his claws up that's when he snapped.
He leapt and bit the wyngling on his arm, using whatever strength he had to toss the other to the side, allowing an opening for the boo to run off into the woods. The rest of the group gasped and before he could make his own escape someone had pinned him to the ground. He growled, kicked and flailed trying to get out only to feel more pressure added on top of him. A swift punch landed on his nose, he stopped struggling and let out a small whimper before he felt another hit him on the cheek, then the other. Whatever fight he had in him died out, he raised his paws above his head in an attempt to lessen the impact of the blows.
He could only be thankful that his boo friend was safe as he waited for the wynglings to stop.
