Koda shut the book he was reading and put it aside. He let out a small sigh and slumped back on the wooden chair. Magic was proving a little harder than he had first thought.

He stared up at the ceiling, the candle softly illuminating it. With another sigh he leaned forward and leaned onto his arm. Most gros were doing their own thing, and it was far
too cold to be outside, leaving Koda alone to study. He looked at the pot on his desk and gave a light snort.

"I wouldn't suppose you could give me some company now could you?" his question was only met with silence. He gave a little chuckle. "ah, what am I doing? You aren't even
awake, or alive yet I guess. no way you'd answer that." Silence once more.

He leaned closer, "This is pretty sad huh, just me, in my room, talking to no one. Chii, what does Esmeree see in me anyway" he felt a lump build up in his throat upon bringing
her up. "heh, Esmeree..."

It was no secret, the two had grown close, almost as if they were siblings. It made Koda happy to know he had someone to lean on, and at the same time he wanted to be there
for her too.

"You know, around the time I got you, something happened, I'm not quite sure what, all I know is I just froze and the next thing I know, I wake up at Dr.F's." Koda
felt his claws dig into his palms as he closed his fist tightly. "Some gros had things happen to them, including her, I wasn't there to protect her..." he stopped for a second, as if
pondering what else to say.

"No, I wouldn't have been enough, I couldn't even protect myself, hah." he let out a shaky laugh. "I can't protect anyone, not when I can't even figure out this magic stuff properly
on my own." He looked down at the pot once more. "what would you know though? you're just a plant that's still growing."

Koda took a deep breath in to try and compose himself before letting silence surround him once more. His ears flickered at the faintest sound of music. Before he knew it
his glands stared to glow bright orange, and the music became louder. He hummed along to the tune but paused when a loud coo interrupted the melody. his glands stopped glowing
and he looked around. There was yet another coo. this time he noticed it in the direction of the pot, he peaked into it and looked closer, only to be surprised by a pair of small curious
eyes staring back at him.

The small creature cooed again. and the silent room was soon filled with a surprised yelp, and the sound of crashing.

Little fun fact, this was supposed to be a simple piece that was supposed to be followed by others to show Koda and his beeb friend. Then I decided, heck let's make it a magic piece
