Too bad "I don't know how socially withdrawn I'll feel at that moment, so don't count me in." isn't an acceptable reply.
I keep telling myself shut the hell up, get out and socialize (social connection is vital in the business world). So I'd reluctantly accept social event invites from acquaintances and dread. Each. And. Every. Moment. Before, during and after the event. I just need to recharge by being by myself after the social event.
If you talk to me, I doubt you'd say I'm socially awkward nor shy. I just dread social events and prefer solitude. Alone and lonely are two different words. You can be "alone" without feeling "lonely".
I'm also extremely selective with the social company I hang out with because I get annoyed easily. Most people get on my nerves within 5 minutes. Either talk too much, gossip too much, lack of common interest, different mentality etc. I just have nothing to say to some people. They don't make me nervous or anything. I stare people straight in the eyes and smile during conversations or speech etc. I just don't wanna talk to them.

When my friends want to go out and do stuff I'm all for it for about two minutes, and then when it's time to go, I REALLY don't want to xD I just want to draw~ hahaha

I totally understand your feelings on this. I'm exactly the same way (for medical reasons though) and often have to hole up in my room or whatever after I spend too much time doing things with people. xD

See, that's why I have this draw-string backpack that I carry. I still my sketchbook in there with a couple pencils and take it with me. If anyone asks, I just say, "You never know when inspiration might hit you in the face with a brick!"
That, or I just make an excuse to say that I'm busy and stay home to read, or draw, or watch Disney <3

It still works! Besides, you really don't know when some inspiration may come to you. You could be looking at a building and imagine one of your characters spray painting graffiti on it then a worker come out to yell at them. (Yes, I've actually imagined this. My poor Angel got beaten with a broom; the bird brain!)
I have yet to get a drawing tablet or anything like that, so all I can do is rely on my sketchbooks. ~
Still, I only really use the grey-scale anyway, sooo...~

Pen and paper is always good anyways. You can always keep your stuff and have no fear of losing all your work if something crashes.

Oh, of course. <3 I have about seven sketchbooks tucked away safely in my desk drawer and a binder half-full of them. The other half was dedicated to those who made me little gifts. I'd put them in there so I wouldn't lose or ruin them.~
And, yeah, my imagination is amazing sometimes, but my memory is awful. It's one of those "If it's there, then write it down before you forget!"
Five seconds later, "What was I writing?" xD!
I actually keep a Dream Journal because of it. Great story ideas~

XD Dreams journals haha I used to write those. Like get up in the middle of the night to jot things down. It made absolutely no sense in the morning and the chicken scratch writing doesn't help.

That's very true xD Though, my sketchbooks are all mixed up and such. I just recently put numbers on them!
My handwriting isn't really bad 'cause my Nana use to make me practice writing. (She had this whole handwriting perfectionist thing going on. Holy fish, that was awful!)
And, yeah, I get what you mean. I actually have a couple stories written down on my phone so I could look at them later or something. I'll write details for a good sketch or storyline, then look back at it later like, "...What?"

lolz I'm a strange person. Talk to me in person, you never know I hate social interactions. (People with social phobia fear they'll be judged and do something embarrassing & get nervous etc. I have no problem rolling down my window and bark at people ahah~ I could grab you and kiss you, laugh and runaway.)
I have no problem approaching strangers and speak to them, looking at people in their eyes etc. I have performed and spoke on stage with a large crowd watching me (no one threw eggs or shoes on stage either so I think I did well lolz.)
(Went to 3 different job interviews recently, instant hired for my smile & confident ;D Ok I'm done bragging)
^^' You can be "alone"(by yourself) without feeling "lonely". (Lonely is when you crave company of others) I just prefer solitude and I love being a hermit. Social event drains my energy.
