So whatever happened last night got me thinking about the random brief self defense lessons from martial artists acquaintances.Last night a girl outside my windows nearly got raped. She's ok in the end. Details here. Midnight screamI was about to fall asleep when faint distant screaming tore through the night.
Saturday, 3:45 AM, not sure if people are drunk and messing around.
I listened on. Sounded like a couple arguing. The girl was screaming, whining and sobbing, or so I thought. Hard to hear from the windows.
Is she being attacked, getting raped or just arguing with a boyfriend.
Shiet, what do you do in situations like that. I peered out my window hoping to catch a glimpse of something that would catapult a reaction.
But it went silence.
What should I do? Should I call the cops still?
Silence.
No, wait. Faint screaming resumes. Couple arguing? Rape? Which one is it?
I picked up my phone about to dial 911 when police siren went off. Blue lights flashing through the shadows of the trees.
Oh fu. Someone called the cops. It's serious. The blue lights came close to my neighborhood.

And it made me think of the brief self defense lessons I occasionally got from acquaintances ( who were martial artists)
lol But nah, I don't know martial art or can fight for shiet. If anything happens. I'd probably be like "I surrender." Kill me or whatever...just make it fast...and let me have the last red velvet before I die.

Then online people show you different ways to kill them and thats how i end up imagining how most die by my hinds...whether itd be learning that you can end someones like in a few minutes by just stabbing them in their thigh or some other insane way..

This oddly enough about sums up the training I got.
We had several girls in the class and our instructor told them: "If you get into a fight with someone my size (he was six-two), don't bother with the niceties, shoot him, rip his balls off, whatever you have to do to survive until backup arrives. We'll worry about the details later."
I'm glad that girl is okay after her ordeal, I've had to respond to that sort of thing before and it's always terrifying.

I always imagined myself being merciless when self defending myself, but then the realisation of the fact that I suck at martial arts (from experiences in learning taekwondo) hits me and well. I guess I'll just run like lightning and throw rocks instead.

unless i turned myself to my psychopath self and if that happened i would feel sorry for the attacker afterwards cause that side of myself isn't merciful at all. xD

I'm actually a pretty peaceful guy and as much as I don't mind violent games or movies, I almost never resort to any sort of violence unless someone else is being seriously threatened. However, no one ever causes me any trouble because I'm tall, stron-ish looking and can be pretty intimidating if I need to be.

People say to go for the testicles, but those people assume it's just one person, and that the imaginary attacker doesn't know their own weakness. If you can't go for the balls (eyes or pelvic), then stomp their feet with your heels. Strikes between the legs work great in general. Don't just strike once, either, unless you can get away. These are viable no matter what height you are at.
Also, don't be paranoid about the world around you, but know its dangers. Stare in the mirror and know it! ;n; *hides my legs*

I'd still stick to what I wrote because strikes to the head/grappling get iffy to mention. Anyway, something for at-home defense should be blunt. I'm not the type of person to suggest sharp objects, but someone else has - most of which seem inconspicuous or not room-friendly.
Whichever state you live in, a baseball bat or a cricket bat at home works.

The smaller the weapons, the better for indoor usage. The longest one-handed weapon suggested goes to the escrima sticks, unless you want to count baseball bats.
"ironwood">oak/maple>rattan>bamboo for wood densities
steel>aluminum for the metal densities
Materials such as polypropylene that you may see are too dense to me. They're better for practice, but for practicality, you generally want more speed.
I hope you never have to resort to using any weapon. :/

If you want more spikes, then "kuba kickz" the guy: www.amazon.com/Fury-Tactical-F… I have a pair of these on some heavy-duty ankle boots. Get them to match your shoes, and if you can, get "steel-toe" boots. If you can get skin contact, they also make good scratches. Get these, a tactical pen, and an umbrella, and no one will ever know you've prepared to defend yourself. Add in some legal-to-purchase motorcycle gloves with knuckle guards, and you're overly prepared, but well protected. If your state allows SAP gloves, then go for them. My only issue with gloves and shoes in general would be the time it takes to put them on. They're good if you have them on already, but not worth diving for them unless they're trying to break down the door. Trust me on the kuba kickz though. Those things are nasty, and your feet already provide good power and initial speed behind them.
