Description

Snakehands (or Snakehooves I suppose) is a loner and spends most of her time with her rat Ruby (and other animals), therefore she rarely speaks. She is not uncomfortable around ponies as many think when they first meet her, she is just very comfortable with silence and doesn't feel the need to fill it with small-talk. When she does speak she mumbles and uses short phrases or single-word answers unless she feels the need to really speak about something important, then she can be quite thorough in her descriptions (though her throat will be sore afterward from overuse). She has a very calm energy about her and her movements tend to be slow and delicate, though she isn't lazy or depressed. This habit comes with being around wild animals all the time, who can be excitable. Because of her idiosyncrasies, some ponies think she is stupid and can underestimate her, but she doesn't take offense to it, in fact she doesn't care at all what others think of her. Nopony really gets her (Maud probably comes the closest) but they know that she is kind and has a good heart so they just accept her and let her do her thing. She is passionate about animals and is very knowledgable about animal medicine (that is why her cutie mark is the veterinary caduceus). Ponies bring their pets to her when they need surgery or something more extensive than FlutterShy can help with and she fixes them up. She has a damaged right eye and that is why she covers it with her hair like that (underneath her eyelid is just closed, no one knows if she even has an eyeball beneath it and she won't talk about it). She can't speak to animals like FlutterShy can but she can usually understand them on an intuitive level. I like to imagine that sometimes Twilight comes over to look at her extensive book collection of animal anatomy and treatment/surgery techniques and that FlutterShy frequently comes to her with an animal in need (or just to have lunch because Snakehooves doesn't go to social gatherings).

I supposed it'd make more sense for her to be a unicorn but I already have a unicorn OC and I like Snakehooves's hair as it is and I don't want to stick a horn through it so just go with it.

Ruby is her assistant and even though she is a rat she can understand and write English (she writes out the prescriptions and instructions), though she can't speak because she's a rat.
