Description
You saw them a few times already. The trio always making you smile.
It started a month ago when you decided that you should do something for your health.
So you bought some new running shoes and the fitting outfit and with a determined smile on your face you walk to the park.
There you stretched before starting to run at an easy pace.

Your smile vanished after a mile and you ask yourself why you started this stupid idea. Sweat runs down your forehead and you try to press air into your lungs.
Why do some people do this every day and enjoy it?

A man runs past you, his steps effortless and you envy him. He must run every often.
While staring at the back of the man, two others zip past you. Faster than anyone you ever saw running. Perplex you lose your pattern and watch them surpassing the first man.
“To your left.” “To your right.”
“Fuck you both.”

A chuckle passes your lips and you think the man watched you. But you decide that you stop now or you will die.
Trotting to a tree you start to stretch. The bark feels cold under your hands and you wish you could just lean into it, your face pressed to the cold.
You turn around when you hear the former exchange between the three men again and smile.
Somehow you feel bad for the slower one of them, getting teased from the two super athletes.

You observed the trio for a month now and they are the push for your motivation. Without them making you smile you would have probably given up after the first time.
But now you are faster and can run more, feeling better with yourself.

Humming to the song blasting through your earphones, your feet drum against the pavement bringing you further.
You didn't see your trio, maybe they come later.
Nonetheless, you run and watch the scenery pass by. Weaving through a group of tourists you perk up when your favorite song comes on.

Not being able to hold back, you start to dance a little without breaking the pattern of your running. A smile forms on your lips and you feel lighter, jogging faster.

“Hey”, a tap on your shoulder startles you and you whirl to the person.
A dark-skinned man falls into step beside you and smiles at you.
You recognize him as the slower one of the running trio. Glancing behind you, you try to find the other two but can't see them.
“Could you-?”, the man taps against his ear and you understand before pulling your earbuds out.

“Hey, sorry”, you smile lightly and he grins at that, waving of your apology.
“No problem.”
You both concentrate on running and you glance at him, wondering what he wants from you. Did he notice you watching them?

“Sam”, he blurts out and holds a hand out towards you. You chuckle at this and shake his hand.
“(y/n), nice to meet you, Sam.”
“I noticed you watching me and my friends”, he confirms your fear and you feel the warmth creeping into your cheeks.
“I'm sorry, I just”, you start to ramble and slow down in the process.
Sam slows down to and smiles at you, opening his mouth to tell you something when you both feel two men each side of you.

“Sam, you left us behind”, the blonde man beside Sam says and you look at the brunet beside you who is already watching you.
“I think he found a lady friend, Steve”, he exclaims while pointing at you. The blonde looks over at you and his eyes widen.
“Hey, I'm Steve”, he introduces himself and you nod politely at him but mentally melting from embarrassment.
“Bucky”, the brunet butts in and you smile.
“Hey, I'm (y/n).”

Sam beside you groans and throws his head back, glancing at you from the corner of his eye. An apologetic looks flashes across his face and you shake your head.
“Don't you have something to do”, Sam asks and throws Steve a meaningful glare.
The blond smiles and gestures his brunet friend to follow him. The both run faster but Bucky turns around for a moment.
“Treat him to some bird food, (y/n).”

Confused you face Sam and he just smiles before shaking his head.
“He thinks he is funny. Sorry 'bout that.”
You chuckle softly and stop, not being able to continue running. Nodding towards a bench Sam follows you and sits down beside you.
“I can't run anymore”, you huff out, leaning back and closing your eyes for a moment. “And about your friends, it's fine. They mean well.”

Sam hums in approval and faces you.
“Could I have your number? I need a new running partner.”
You glance at him, a sly smile on your lips. “You sure that you just want a new 'running' partner?”
“Maybe I want to have a new dining partner too... Tomorrow evening, 7 pm”, he adds and smiles at you, handing you his phone.
You take it and punch in your number before giving it back.
“You better call me, Sam.”
“You bet, (y/n). I text you later.”

He winks at you and stands up before starting to run again. Before he is out of sight he turns around and waves at you, you doing the same.
Slowly you relax and stand up, needing a shower and your bed.
You walk towards the exit of the park when you see the three men again, Steve and Bucky just passing Sam.
“Did you get her number?” “Treat her nice or she will run away.”
“Screw you.”
