It's easier to just throw tweens on everything, and duplicate frames to create non-tweened spots, than to manually add them only where you need them. I could probably delete a lot of that, but it would only result in things looking prettier in the timeline

I'v been using motion Tweens on my flashes. work just as good to me ^_^

have noticed that it likes to fill empty space after placing keyframes, but that why the clear frames option is there.

Ah, the new "motion" tweens annoyed the tar outta me, they tended to break, and make filesizes HUGE on a game I was doing animation for, so we all just went back to using classic tweens.

(As of CS4 or CS5, Flash doesn't actually embed the new tweens in the file, it renders them frame by frame and puts the result in the SWF)

I use CS5.5. As of classic Tweens, do those act pretty much the same as motion, or is there a difference im missing?

Classic tweens are what motion tweens were in....I think CS3 and earlier? They actually used to be called "motion tweens" - in any older Flash documentation, that's what they're talking about.

Classic tweens do an overall eased transform between two objects on the timeline, and assumes the objects are the same. This is handy, as you can have a graphic object with different images on different frames (or simply swap two objects with similar shape/size/orientation), to swap out different things as the overall object animates. (For example, the mouths are all on different frames of a graphic object, and simply 'click' between them as the animation progresses. Same goes for the different arm shapes)

For classic Flash animation, they're much more useful. Now, new tweens do allow you to more easily arc the path the object is taking- classic tweens by default animate linearly, but you can still arc classic tweens- you just put them on a motion guide for the span of their animation, and they will follow the curve.

The new tweens are basically Adobe taking their AfterEffects animation system (which is, granted, awesome!) and shoving it forcibly into Flash (which kinda' breaks everything)

Okey, so if i use classic Tweens, do my thing, and then motion it for movement, then i can animate a little easier by starting with classic, and ending with motion.

Nope, Flash will only let you use one OR the other on a layer.

Classic tweens do motion.

Well, but every row represents one moving piece, and the columns are time. So it's pretty easy to find if something's wrong- it's the keyframe where something's not moving correctly, and it's the row of what piece is goofing up
