Description Some watercolour studies referenced from photos I took at Blackpool Zoo on a class trip.

It was fun trying to create the white stripes the old fashioned without white ink or masking fluid!

Mmmmm bongos. It is amazing how well they can hide considering that they are bright orange

I'm... guessing you like the picture then? I hope. XD
Funny you should say that, I was discussing it with my classmate how they'd evolve such crazy camouflage and how well it would work. I've never seen bongos in their natural habitat, do orange and white stripes somehow work? (That said, most predators don't see colours very well so I digress)

They're a deep forest species so they're mostly in the shade or in dappled sunlight, so the bright orange appears dark brown and the stripes help break up their shape A lot of other other forest antelope (the females anyway) are a similar but less vivid chestnut-red-brown color with vertical white stripes.

Lol, yes I like the sketches, I'm a sucker for zoo sketchbooks, I just got overexcited when I saw a page full of bongos XD

Ahh that makes sense Thanks for explaining that!
Yeah I've just bought myself a book for my field studies so I'll definitely upload interesting pages from that. They will be from field trips in Britain though, so no more bongos unfortunately. xD
