Description
This is a treeThere's more to the picture than what is shown here. The left side is really missing the capture point, that draws your eyes around the picture. I like to add dark points around pictures to draw your eyes all the way thru the picture.
My scanner doesn't have a large scan area, maybe I can remedy that later, but for now, here is the shot. I tried taking pictures of it, but they were too dark to do anything with.
Sorry that it isn't in it's completed profile, because it is a rather nice picture that I'm thinking of framing up. Besides, I just LOVE trees!!!!!

I love the tree it's hauntingly beautiful. I was wondering if I could borrow this and maybe edit it for a school project. It wont be commercialized or anything. It's just a school project. Thank-you

I don't mind at all. It helps to have a visual. I made that tree up in my mind, I'm actually good at mind pictures. If you need help with bark and stuff, just let me know. I'll help anyone who loves trees as much as I do.
If you decide to post your version up, please link to the original as a reference, that always helps everyone. I really am honored you like it enough to try to do your own.

It's sometimes frightening to know what's going on in this brain of mine.
It's actually linking back to the page with The Tree on it. Or just credit me for the original. Just write ":iconsnapesimp" with the ":" on the end of it, and it should bring my icon up like this , you can do the same for your own name...like this.
Anyway, just a short lesson if you didn't know how it works.
BTW: Squiggley lines is how the bark starts, so you're halfway there. Maybe I should do a tutorial of doing gnarled bark on trees.
Tree bark isn't really hard, but it's very detailed looking. All you have to do is have a nice pencil to start, like a B2 lead...my personal favorite, and a nicely grained paper. (I'm really picky about my paper having the right texture for pencil, it needs to take the lead.) Anyway, get that hand to squiggling up and down the tree trunk, and keep the bark in lay with the one next to it, but not exactly the same...and if you want a bare spot, don't squiggle in that part, and put some shadows beneath the edges of it.
I draw stuff fairly fast, like trees, use your imagination a lot, and imagine your hands touching the bark. How it looks and feels. Squint your eyes to see the darks and lights.
And, hey, it doesn't matter what paper you draw on. It's art no matter what! I doodle on anything, even toilet paper at work. I see things in the tiles on the floor and draw them on the toilet paper. LOL How crazy is that?!

hey thanks i will have to see what i can do about that..thats awesome drawing on toilet paper..but i guess when the inspiration come you can't pass it up .... i just did that to see if it worked anywyas bark sounds easy when you put it like that but im sure i can find every possib;e way to mess it up..oh well and no worries if you knew what went on in my brain you would probably be like terrified
my art teacher said about the squionting your eyes thing and if he wasn't such a pothead i amy have actually payed attention to him more..i like purposely didn't pay attention in spite of him..not completely though i caught the important stuff lol

The important stuff is what matters most. I'll work on a bark tutorial for you and anyone else who has trouble with it. There may be one already made for tree bark, not in my style maybe, but I can work on a 1st tutorial for good cause. Tho, it may take me a while to complete.
Notice when you are sending comments, on the comments box where you write? There is a little "Emoticons" in the far bottom right corner. Click it, and it will show you all sorts of little faces and such to use in your notes. The same way you make an icon appear using the ":" on the outside of a word. Like "Faint". It would be :faint :, and look like this, .
Think it might help you express yourself more in the comments. LOL
Here's another tip for your bark, when you make the trunk of the tree, shade it a bit before you make your squiggles, then afterwords, go back and shade a bit more to blend in a bit. If it covers your squiggles too much, go over them again a bit. It helps to have a sharpened pencil for the actual squigglies, but don't press in too hard, or you'll have torn paper. LOL Maybe try a darker lead. Sometimes it helps to change up if you can achieve the darkness you want. Often, when the shading is there, you can put in dark spots within the bark for depth...I do it a lot thoughout.
Keep trying. You'll get the hang of it.

It's OK. You just have a nice time looking about at everyone's stuff. Get ideas and run with them.
I've been meaning to do one on shading for quite a while. So it's not a bad idea for a tree tutorial. It'll be something different to do, I have learned bunches on the tutorials on this website. Just search for Tutorials, and see what comes up. LOTS!! Actually would make you faint !
You have fun at school...don't fry your brain on all those exams.

I like the add of the tiny little spider web and spider up in the branches, and I'm not sure if you meant it to have faces within the bark. I know sometimes you like to do that, so I might be seeing things that are not really there. I love it, and yes, my eyes are actually drawn about quite well by this just the way it is, but I'll see about helping you with a picture.
Love it!
