I've never quite understood the "I must be in a dream" trope. Maybe it's just me, but all my dreams are vague and completely undetailed. They're so... ethereal that I almost instantly forget them when I wake up. So if I were to suddenly wake up in a world with perfect clarity, and see that I'm a Pokemon? It being a dream would not be my first thought whatsoever. (Also, I discovered this comic from Zander's shoutout, currently reading through it all. Seems great so far!)

Anyways, This seems pretty natural. Also If I turned in to a pokemon I think I would want to be a Riolu or Lucario. They seem like they would be the easiest pokemon to get to moving around as. Plus natural martial arts fighting skill. Pretty epic sounding to me.

This is probably the most logical way a person who would wind up in the PMD universe would realise that they're not dreaming or the like. I realise it's for the sake of getting to the actual gameplay quicker but, the fact that most PMD protagonist kind of just run with the fact that they're Pokemon now is something that's always kind of bugged me.
Hence why Zack just thinks he's dreaming. And why he needed to learn the hard way that he wasn't.

Yeah, the shock of changing species would make for some interesting dialog. Come to think of it, it would also be a good way to frame the tutorial. I can honestly see having someone explain how to walk or pick up stuff or use the most basic form of attack as being very understandable and expected in that situation. Why haven't they gone that route?
