Description
The victorian dress I made November '06. I had decided in October I wanted to go to Dicken's Fair in San Francisco and, of course, had to have a (Mostly!) appropriate outfit! The entire outfit took about a month to make, using patterns from Truly Victorian (Entire dress, combo undies, and bustle) and C&C (the corset). It was a delight to make! The purple is sateen cotton, the black polyester crepe fabric, and the butter color is polyester satin and velvet. I make faces at the synthetic fibers in the dress, but the next one will be withoutRelated content

The colors of the costume are primarily red and black, but would white lace work?

White lace will work, but be careful with the quality because a synthetic white lace on such dark colors can come off looking odd.
My best recommendation would be to bring small pieces of your red and black to the store when you go to pick out your lace.
Good luck!

Actually, the store didn't have any other colors besides white, but I went to Wal-Mart and found a bunch of black, so I'm just going to use the white for another project.
Thanks!

I wanna make a Victorian-Gothic Genesis Rhapsodos cosplay. Any advice?

That's a really broad question, but I'll do my best! I would recommend as much natural fiber as you can, since you'll be wearing a lot of layers of clothing. If there will be a corset, a custom corset is going to be infinitely more comfortable than anything off the rack. Also, if you're looking for patterns I cannot rave enough about how wonderful the patterns on Truly Victorian [link] are. If you have any specific questions, let me know and I'll try to answer them
Good luck!

Very nice. Pretty purple. Love the top hat.
I have a friend who likes to alter her clothings, like she took a pair of pants she got from london and extended them so they were baggy (instead of skin-tight).
Wish I could do stuff like that, but I'm lucky if I can even sew my pants. lol
How'd the fair go?
