Description
Okay, so I am back on dA. Guess it is time to upload some actual art again. So here's an Arcee from Prime, rendered back last year when I thought I still actually liked TFP. (Totally gave up on that show after the writers dropped the ball on what could have been intensely interesting Megatron and OP interaction. Oh, yeah. And the Breakdown thing, too. I'm never gonna recover. Um. but I still dig Arcee, and I do still like this painting.)Huh. And I have no idea if I'm sticking this in the appropriate category. This is technically digital, but it's rendered pretty much exactly like traditional media. And on that note, it's half-way between a drawing and painting, kinda like everything I do. ; P

Again, this is very awesome. Thank you for allowing your picture to be in the group.

No prob! I'm still kinda figuring out what groups even entail, actually. Back when I wandered away from dA a while back, the feature didn't exist. I think they are a great improvement than double-posting art in the old fanclub page, though.

Groups are kind of like a place you can go and join if you want to join a group that has a theme you like. For example one about Transformers. There the group can have pictures from all over da submitted into their group. Like a Collection of all the art. When you click on the actual picture though it takes you to the Artist's picture. So it's not like it's taking anything away from the artist and in fact can draw more people who might not have seen your art to your page/art. It's a nice feature I think.

The one thing I am finding confusing is the difference between 'watching' and being a member...? Is being a contributor the same as being a member?
π: 0 β©: 1
H-Falcon In reply to sniperdusk [2012-06-29 23:56:30 +0000 UTC]
Watching I would imagine works the same as watching an artist. You would get updates when a journal is made or a new pic is uploaded etc. (If you've chosen those options). Members is something that the group can control. Or restrict certain features to "Members". Like for example only Members might be able to submit art to the group.

sniperdusk In reply to H-Falcon [2012-06-29 23:58:26 +0000 UTC]
Okay, so responding to a submission invitation is not the same as joining per se.

H-Falcon In reply to sniperdusk [2012-06-30 00:03:54 +0000 UTC]
No. If someone submits your art to the group you still have to give permission be accepting or declining. And that only affects THAT picture. It does not affect any others or does not include you into the group or cause you to have an association with the group. (other then having your art in the group of course). Likewise you retain all control over your art (as it should be) and can remove it from the group at any time.

Pretty amazing!
And I'm sorry about the way you feel about Prime lately but I do hope that one day you'll give it another chance and see the rest of the show later if you feel the urge too. Yes it has it's duds latley but it's not done yet and who knows? It may deliver the things you've wanted long ago later on. It may even explore more of Optimus and Megatron's rivlery more.
If you don't want to that's fine. Just wanted to give out my thoughts that's all. And yes Arcee is an awesome character.

Yeah, I certainly don't hate TFP outright or anything, but the two of us just do not have a compatible relationship. >XD But hey, TFA was an impossibly perfect act to follow. And as far as current universes go, I honestly think RB is far more charming and interesting. ^_^; And MTMTE is so flawless, it really has all my undivided loyal devotion. But yeahβ¦I probably will watch TFP some time in the future once it is over and I know the ending already so I can be prepared and enjoy what is present rather than pine over all the elements that are being overlooked. (Er, except if Shockwave or Perceptor ever show up, I'm totally back in instantly.)
I just love the visual style so much, though, it's hard not to continue to draw it. And I really appreciate the direction they took Arcee, so here's hoping that might be a future trend.

I've heard good things about MTMTE and RB so maybe I'll check them out later in the future. By the way Shockwave is indeed confirmed to show up in Prime later on. At Botcon they have a clip of him meeting up with Arcee,Cliffjumper, and Starscream.
So anyway do what you feel suits you best. And who knows? Perhaps Prime may seem different for you in the future.

Perhaps I am just picky since there have been so many TF stories over the years that really have resonated with me. XD
Erk. Shockwave, though, really? I have to choice in the matter, now. ^_^;;
Warning, that while overflowing with amazingly-paced plot and continual witty banter, MTMTE is emotionally devastating! (It's written by James Roberts is why.) So just...uh, read with care. But RB is just adorable, even if it is basically a cutesy rip of J-Decker.

I did actually. The program is called ArtRage and it is brilliant since all the tools behave like real media (as far as mixing/blending and overlapping and such) so it has been a very easy transition for me, since I really didn't do anything digital before. (Plus it lets you still do photoshoppy type stuff like unlimited undos and multi-layers.) I bought the app last year for like $8, but I'm pretty sure it's on sale now for like $2 or $3. I also use a Nomadbrush for my stylus.

Oh brilliant! I have yet to acquire an iPad of my own, but I do have ArtRage for the iPod, and I adore it! A nomad brush? I'd never heard of those before, they look fascinating and wonderful to use!
π: 0 β©: 1
sniperdusk In reply to ZeeNovos [2012-06-26 21:27:59 +0000 UTC]
I really had no interest in ever getting an iPad (kinda thought they were wasteful and gadgety for someone who already has a perfectly fine mbp)...however, I now can see they are invaluable to anyone who draws at least!
The Nomads are awesome. You still have to set your brush size/settings onscreen of course, but they are made exactly like real fine art brushes, so they have the wonderful soft tip and great length/weight. (Only bad thing is that they are delicate so you need to carry them around in their box.)

Prime Arcee is just a really gorgeous and well-thought design, visual style and personality both. And I hadn't seen really any TFP watercolor style art at the time...er, or still.
(Oh, and I just decided I shouldn't get emotionally invested in a show that continually teased me without delivering anything I actually wanted to see happen. Maybe I'll give it a watch years from now if I feel the urge. XD But meanwhile; I got G1, BW/M and TFA to watch over and over, continuously, forever. So I'm pretty satisfied with that.)

Well either way. Regardless how you feel about the show/series it's obvious you like Arcee. It really shows in this art. So again Nicely done.

Guhhh why is this still so amazing looking. I love the watercolor paper background on this- it really makes the cross-hatchy kind of coloring stand out so nice.

I actually fixed her face and helm a bit this afternoon to be a bit more show-accurate. (Cuz I kinda just made up what I thought she looked like from memory before.) I think I like it better now...?
It's so cool that I can opt to turn off the paper texture lighting, but honestly I like leaving it since it ends up looking more like my old art this way. I don't really want my new stuff to look too digital.
