Description *taking a break from commissions*
phew, back to normal

Well this one is inspired and referenced by an already existing drawing, just search for der ritter at google and check the images.
It wasn't painted over or anything, it was fully recreated from the very beginning and of course I did changes to match better with my tastes XD (I absolutely had to add blood)

I'm kinda proud for this one, it took me only some hours from today and yesterday to finish it and I didn't miss out any details. The skeleton is a bit of a mindfuck but that's the best part of it haha

Anyway,hope you like it~
I wanna keep drawing more and more creepy and macabre stuff but my commissions keep me behind

EDIT
huh, I didn't know that this thing was related to slender-man...oh well

Okay for actual context and explanation, since it seems a lot of people are puzzled. The ORIGINAL 1700s woodcut (dans macabre? I forget) showed a knight being killed by Death, with Death being a skeletal figure in armour.

In the something awful thread which originally created The Slender Man, a photoshopped version of that (and another woodcut) was submitted, labelled as 'Der Ritter'. It was explicitly intended as a historical representation of the Slender Man. The lance became an arm, he got extra limbs, and the face was smoothed over.

Der Ritter is not however, another name for Slenderman - it means The Knight and refers to the guy being killed. (Der Grossman/Grobmann[that funny german B like letter] is usually used in stories about Slendy relating to germanic folktales, though technically Der Langemann is a better translation)

This picture hwoever, is absolutely epic

I don't know why people think this is slenderman.

The only reason people do is because they think because of the similarities that they were "related" in a way or that der Ritter was "the original slanderman"

This image is a remake of a hoax.
Said hoax is the woodcarving "Der Ritter" photoshopped to make the skeletal figure in it resemble Slenderman.
So, yes; it IS related to Slenderman.

This is very beautiful. I love all the colors and how it brings the original piece to life.
And I find the title interesting, because Der Ritter (in German) means knight.

Both of the characters in the drawing/painting are both knights.

I've done some research on the history of creatures matching the description of slender Man throughout history and Der Ritter was one of my favorite study focuses. From what I can tell, Slender Man always dressed the part of the upper class. (Knight in Der Ritter, businessman today.) He also used to be quite skeletal in appearance. I wonder why?

Either way, this is a beautiful rendition of Der Ritter. There is a sequel piece where Der Ritter is taking a child from its parents. (Another Slendy relation.) I wonder how it would look in your style?

Maybe they are skeletal in appearance to show their connection to death? I mean the Der Ritter pictures always have an hourglass, and that is kind of a symbol of time and death too.

Well... You did know this thing is related to Slender Man, because the original Knight does not have extra limbs and does have a mouth.
This drawing is an obvious illustration to what Slendy fan can do if he is totally obsessed.

I think he's what made people think there was a Slenderman out there. I hope he's real. How cool would it be to talk to other ghosts!?!

"How did you die?"

"Killed by a car accident, he died from hunger, and she died from suicide..."

"Mine's better! You're all just mainstreams! I was killed by Der Ritter!"

That's how it would go in my head I'm sure. Not a hipster by-the-by. Nice job with the coloring too! He looks much scarier now that he has the proper shading and colors on! Good job!

Ironically, while Slenderman is apparently referred to as Der Ritter because of this picture, "Der Ritter" just means "The Knight", and thus refers to the armoured man in the picture, not the weird creature.

On that note, even in the 'original', the creature is just a photoshopped version of a skeleton, from Holbein's Danse Macabre series [link]
