Description I thought this would take me only a couple hours... it turned into taking up the entire day

ANYWAY!! So I finally got this project off my chest lol, I've been DYING to remake my furry faces tutorial since I've had many many people come tell me that my last guide was very useful to them... and it's been driving me nuts because it was so badly done, I HAD to remake it!!
( for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, you can see the tutorial on my old account here -> Guide to Furry Faces
Eventually I'll remove it, but for now it'll stay up for those who still want to use it xP
the first person to correctly comment how many paw prints are in this tutorial gets a free sketch  claimed! 8D

As stated in my deviation, this is for beginning artists!!! I really tried to add some better examples of how to go about drawing them... and I really hope I did an okay job with it, and I especially hope somebody out there finds it helpful one way or another!!
I'm sure I'll be making a couple edits over time too... but for now... I hope this helps! Also want to say, YES, you can reference the art in this specific tutorial as much as you need to help you learn!! However if you upload anything that is heavily referenced, please give me credit! ^^
Thank you all for the support

Here are some other tutorials that might be helpful and good for your art journey!!!

Thank you very much for this guide, I really appreciate the work you put into it. As a Bloody Furrie/Anthro beginner, I now have a better understanding of the drawing structure.
Please allow me a few questions?
How it looks with other drawing styles, are there changes in the body language like emotional design in the face or is it the same?
And how does it look if I use the Drawing style of a visual novel or comic, as a template for my own drawing style?
Is this then already thievery?
And is here on Deviantart something like a teacher or coach. That have the time and patience, who can also look at my drawings and give advice on how to improve.

Hello there!! First off I apologize for the late response, but I'll do my best to answer your questions for you! <3

When it comes to style, every artist is different and it really comes down to preference! There's no right or wrong way to draw expressions per say, some artists like to exaggerate their expressions and bodies more than others. I'd just look at what you like and try and put your own spin on it!
You can look at other artist's styles for inspiration! I don't recommend copying any artists style exactly as everyone should be unique, but you can pull bits and pieces that you like from a bunch of different styles and try and mash them up into your own thing. Of course it takes time, but it's important for each artist to find their own style to represent their own tastes and interests!
Many artists and people on deviantART are willing to critique work! I recommend checking out forums for people willing to critique, however if you ask sometimes people are just willing to do it.
I hope this helps!!

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question, now have a rough idea of how to get started. Just because of my work, I do not have much time to draw. But in a few months it will change again, have a wonderful day.

Thank you for it, now with this, i am able to do better plans before drawing.  Incredible how you can change the context just by tweaking the expression a bit, i just discovered something.

I've always wondered what kind of brushes to use etc. when drawing. I got some drawings done on my page but nothing special really and I feel like I can't get the same kind of lines done as everyone else. I have a small wacom bamboo drawing tablet I use with Photoshop cs6

Snorechu In reply to SemiSM [2018-03-19 20:50:14 +0000 UTC]

I personally use Paint tool sai so I'm afraid I won't be too much of a help with photoshop, but there's a couple of great tutorials by others I can recommend to you! Photoshop Line Art Tutorial  and there is another method of line work worth knowing here: Photoshop Line Art Tutorial

Otherwise I would just recommend playing with your brush styles and settings until you find something you feel comfortable with! I wouldn't try and compare your lines with other artists TOO much, because you may find something on your own that is unique to you and better for your own style and preferences!
