P E R S O N A L I T Y:
Frankly speaking, Batiste is a man of two personalities: the one in front of the Delacroix family, and the one in front of everyone else. In front of the Delacroix's, he is the consumant professional - quiet, classy, and the very epitome of a gentleman, both in language and form. In front of everyone else however, the real Batiste appears. Batiste is rough, loud, and very phsyical - he believes every problem can be solved with a fist, and encourages people to give it a go. More like a thug than a proffesional butler, his language becomes rough and brazen. He especially enjoys giving menacing gestures over the head of Aurelia to approaching people. Short fused and in a lot of ways, immature, Batiste will pick fights and mantain a grudge over some very childish things.
After duty has been known to get roaring drunk and go singing down the streets in great cheer.

s t r e n g t h s:

He is phsyically awe-inspiring - both large and muscular, and will give anyone a run for their money when it comes to a fight.

He's a solid cook.
By far his best dish is the Parfait. Can't make anything as well as that - and it comes from years of preparing, as for the longest time it would always make Aurelia smile.

Does not feel pain. Was fondly nicknamed "the brick wall" back in his Boxing club, and can take shot after shot without going down.

Gardening. Has a garden of prized peonies back home. It always does a good job of calming the man down.

w e a k n e s s e s.

The summer time - If certain pollens are airborne Batiste will find his allergies kicking up and at the mercy of nature, completely exhausted and weak but stubbornly refusing to go home.

Refuses to eat his vegetables and is generally a man with an awful diet which can affect his work.

Batiste is good at fighting... but not so good at catching up with people, or chasing them down. It only takes a minute to lose this hefty man in a footrace.

Bullheaded, Batiste steadfastly refuses to listen to anyone apart from a Delacroix - this goes for a lot in his life, his car, opinions on sport, what goes best with onions. Saying he's "obstinate" is putting it lightly.

His near psychotic determination is almost admirable - but ultimately one of the worst things about him. When he gets fired up, nothing can stop him, and he refuses to quit or take advice.

H I S T O R Y.
What with the busy nature of Phillipe and Constance (Aurelia's parents) it quickly became apparant that a carer of some sort was needed. And for the well off middle class family, Batiste was hired - an organised and professional butler, who for the better half of Aurelia's early years prepped her clothing, cooked her meals and took her to and from school every day.
He was an old friend to Phillipe - and the two after their work hours frequently exchanged old stories at the bar table. However a year and a half before Phillipe's unfortunate demise, Batiste was fired over a descriptancy on his resume - namely, neglecting to mention the true reason for his dismissal in his first 2 jobs (fights, and improper conduct). Normally it wouldn't have been an issue for the two friends - but it came at a poor time when Phillipe and Batiste were fighting.

Before Aurelia and her mother moved to Japan, Aurelia implored with her mother to at least rehire Batiste - desperately wanting the man who represented such fond memories of her life in the old house. As such, it is a debt he never forgets of his young mistress, and pays back in whatever way he can. That being the case, Batiste is strongly protective of Aurelia.
After Aurelia's recent misadventure, getting lost in the dangerous parts of Kirimori at night, Batiste at Constance's insistence was sent to keep a more careful eye on the lady. Living in a local flat, he ensures that no such trouble occurs outside the school again.

T R I V I A.

Prefers to be called "Batiste" by everybody, including the Delacroix's. Infact calling him Matthieu is a very excellent way to make him furious!

He loves cars, and his car - very much. He can polish it lovingly for hours, and collects various car magazines as well.

Still single. On the lookout for a miss Batiste. Applicants apply here

Has a habit of saying "you fish/cook, etc... like a girl". He especially does this when he thinks he can do a better job.

As a rule, tends to treat all women and girls with great respect.... Men on the otherhand, not so much. This only gets worse for males of a similar age group to Aurelia.

He enjoys a real love hate relationship when it comes to nature, because he really does love gardening, but when his allergies kick up, he stubbornly refuses to come inside or do very much about it.

Likes to decorate his suit with various decorative flowers.
