I hope you've had a wonderful day and got lots of wonderful presents!
I really hope you like it and I really hope I captured the characters accurately...!!
I tried a new technique!
What do you think?
It's called Glazing, it's pretty wild-! Here's the neato tutorial I found about it and (tried rofl) to follow
During it I was really lazy with the actual glazing part of the colouring and just felt - yep, this isn't for me. But looking back, the colours turned out pretty interesting huh? xD
Again, I suffered over indecision with what to draw SS boys exchange the other idea
In the end I decided to settle with these two since I thought it would make you most happy and since I wanted to definitely draw two characters.

Glazing, like a digital version of the oil painting technique? 
I especially like how saturated the undertones are in this one, particularly on that blue robe. The shading on the skin is my favorite - really true to how skin would look in that lighting! I wish that the link in your artist's comment worked though; you always find the neatest tutorials :<

Haha it was very enjoyable to do, I definitely recommend you give it a try! Plus it's very interesting to colour everything in B&W! Oooohhh I've done something similar to that before too! Actually that latest image I did (which wasn't a gradient) but yeah, I splat down the colours for the bg first - and then just painted over that. xD How interesting!

Awesome! I'm excited to give it a try for my next painting. The effect is really neat, and doing it in B&W first forces you to focus on values in a way that's easy to skip over once you start applying color XD To be fair, though, some colors can really affect the value of a composition (yellow, for example) and it's hard to notice the impact in B&W. Have you heard of the approach where the artist starts with "local colors" (pretty much just base colors) instead?

It does indeed! xD It was quite interesting to do and actually I use the principle for "soft light" even on some of my other picture now - it's quite cool. xD

I'll have to find the tutorial explaining it again! Basically though, it's just putting down the most basic colors first, then adding detail on top of it. It's better for finding color composition, I think.
