Description So being that I have several Naked Snake/Big Boss costumes slated for the future, one of which I'm working on right now, I found the need for nice, clean vectors of the various organizations' logos that he starts.

However, none of the images I spotted online already I was really happy, and being the nit-picky perfectionist that I am I decided to create something that I could be satisfied with entirely. So I started up my games and got the reference I needed. The FOX and FOXHOUND logos are taken from the ending screens/emblem wallpapers from MGS4 and the MGF logo is taken from Peace Walker. I then cleaned the images up in photoshop and illustrator.

This was all because I knew I'd need patches embroidered and I wanted to be able to give nice, clean images for her machine to work from that way the patches will be as true to the actual logos as possible. However, since having created these, I've used them in a multitude of ways in order to create all sorts of documents and images.

I'm very glad I did this in the end; it was a very fun side project.

damn, so sad that you don't have a download or even the archives(since you say that you lost the original vectors in a HD crash) I really want to make myself some patches, but the images I find are not as close as the games ones as this D:

I will have to do some hunting and see. Β I know I've recently found files that I thought I'd lost. Β Worst come to worse, I may need to remake them.

I did, but they were all far loser res than I thought they would be. I'm not sure they would actually be helpful at all.

I don't remember, and I haven't been able to find the files I used when making these. Β I'm fairly sure I just used Courier or something like that

Sadly no. Β The original file with all the separate vectors was lost some time ago when my hard drive crashed. Β If there was a download, you would have to pay for it, hence why I never post them.

Wow, amazing job.

I understand your feeling, I ended making myself a very accurate version of the frankling badge from Mother series because all versions I looked at on internet where just awful and I wanted to be as faithful to the original as I can.

I was searching for a very accurate version of the foxhound logo too, to print me a t-shirt, but again all of them on the internet were so horrible. I ended making my own "revamped" version (for "revamped" I mean a totally diferent and screwed version). But seriously your version is the best one I have seen so far. Kudos, I will try again to make myself a very accurate vector version this time now that I have seen yours

Thanks! I'm certainly flattered by the comments. I've always been a stickler for details, and I could never find an image I liked or a patch that was the right size. I figured it would be easier to do the vectors myself, and send them off to be done by someone I trust.

It's good to hear that my work has motivated you to try again. Good luck.

That's the good idea to make up metal Gear solid character Costumes Apparently Cos-play with these patches.

I know people mass produce the patches, and it was seeing said pre-made patches that urged me to create these back in 2010. The patches I've seen are usually much larger than what actual military issued patches, and being that I am only 5' 4" tall, which is a fair bit shorter than Big Boss' official height, so I try and keep everything scaled and proportioned accordingly. In the end, it helps my cosplay look less like I'm a little boy playing in Daddy's clothes.

Needless to say, I'll stick to my perfectionist ways, if only for my own peace of mind.

Thats cool, that site does have smaller version of the same patch, thought you'd get a kick out of it though. Have a good one.

The 'smaller' sizes are usually too large for what I need.

The effort is certainly appreciated. Take care.

I know! I can hardly wait to get the first ones! Since I'm working on the awards ceremony uniform from the end of MGS3 that Snake wears, I'm pretty excited about getting the FOX patch soon.

Wow thats even more awesome! Will you be getting the iconic beret and eye-patch as well?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SnowBunnyStudios In reply to Corporal-Yakob [2010-12-30 19:25:07 +0000 UTC]

Yep! I have the uniform hanging in my closet right now lol. I'm actually making the eye patch out of leather; the materials are sitting in my studio waiting for me to stop being a bum. The ones I usually find that are 'pirate' eye patches are far too uncomfortable, too big, and dig into my face. I'm helping my friend with her Major Ocelot costume, so I'm putting off making all his ribbons and metals until I make hers as well.

I'm debating whether to tackle the Sneaking Suit from MGS3 or the basic fatigues from Peace Walker next. Since the slanted Vietnam era pocket design seems to be a bit trickier to find than regular BDUs but I'm also not 100% looking forward to drafting a pattern. Either way, we shall see - I have so much Snake cosplay planned its a bit ridiculous!
