Description
Watched the final episode of Samurai Jack only hours ago. Like the series itself, the show ended on a satisfying yet bittersweet note. While I was sad, it was inevitable and all done with fulfilling the purpose of the show. This piece of artwork is my tribute to a show I had heard about, watched sparsely over the years, and joined the official fandom at the very end. Goodbye Aku, goodbye Ashi, and goodbye Samurai Jack.Samurai Jack belongs to Genndy Tartakovsky.

In hindsight I really wished Ashi was introduced much earlier in the series like Season 3 or so.Β Samurai Jack was sorely lacking a recurring female character and Ashi fit the mold perfectly.Β She at least deserved to appear much sooner back toward the earlier part of the series rather than its last season but overall, I think fans have taken quite the liking to her.

Yeah. I liked her the moment I saw a clip of her on YouTube where she was defending Jack from her mother (I got into season five late due to school conflicts). Her design resembled Ilana from Genndy's other work, Sym-bionic Titan, as well as sharing her same voice actress (Tara Strong), which made me like her more, and her character arc paralleled Jack's in a way that brought out the best in both when they really needed it most. Not to mention, she was what fanfiction has been doing for years; Genndy just wrote it better. Honestly, judging from the origin of the show, Ashi was inevitable and I'm glad Jack FINALLY got a solid love interest.
Personally, I wish that season five was longer than ten episodes so we could have gotten more time with her, but I guess we should be grateful that we got them at all. Though if we're wishing for things, I really wish she didn't have to vanish, but I kinda saw that coming as well because time travel. I've watched enough Doctor Who to see that tragedy coming a mile away.

I know, right? I mean, I was mentally preparing myself for bittersweet tragedy, because time travel, but the wedding scene really threw me off and hit me hard when I let my guard down.

The worst part is that the final scene is of the tree that Jack showed Ashi and now there are tons of trees, but she isn't there to see it T^T

Yeah, I was sad about it, but as soon as they went back into the past, I was prepping myself for her disappearance. I wasn't really looking for "how" she would die, but "when" she would die. I was a little thrown off when we suddenly saw a wedding scene, so that made the pain drag out a bit.
