Yes, sort of. That's just one of her powers, the one that comes from the her Light heritage, so that's not all she can do.

I figured it's animal related. I almost thought it would be something like calling from the spirits of animals for a blessing. Like a Druid or Shaman. Deer would be healing. Lion Strength. Hawk Flight. That kind of thing.

Yeah, that's basically the point. She could only summon a small deer this time around because she just started to unlock her powers from level 0.
But as soon as she gets more skilled she will be able to choose her summons depending on the situation, and the animals will get more powerful each time.
Though it obviously won't ever be anything too OP.
