how can I optimize my images for the web and how can I reduce their size (they always turn out to have many mb) ?

This image I like a lot.
Regarding the size of your images. Well, it depands on what software are you useing.
The basic ideea is to resize the image and then to aply sharpening to it. Not the other way around.
Also you need a workflow from start - the import to your computer from the camera - to finish - upload the finished picture on the web.
