Description
If you are seeing these muscle names for the first time don't panic, these are just details. As long as you get the big picture especially with the forearm muscles you should be good. The upper arm is more simple to get, first there is the triceps that split the arm in two. The back half is all triceps with its 3 heads, notice that the lateral head has a kind of tail to it, its quite long, it should be called the long one really and even though the medial head is labeled don't bother with remembering it since it only appears in body builders that eat steroids for breakfast lunch and dinner. The famous bicep muscle sits on top of the Brachialis. If you want to make a strong looking arm its important to emphasis it and the Brachioradialis and not fall into the trap of only thinking about the biceps muscle.
Think of the forearm as having two warring tribes or compartments of muscles; the Flexors and the Extensors. They are always working against each other and changing the shape of the arm. Sometimes the flexors are bulging out (winning the war) and other times its the extensors. But never both, if you make a fist and swivel your wrist around you will see them bulging in and out.
Follow your reference and relax, that's the main thing. You don't need to know every muscle to render a good arm.
