Description
I sculpted this for myself in zBrush to use as reference and then I thought; sharing is caring. If you have any questions about the anatomy I will be happy to answer them.

Thank you so much! One thing I've been wondering is...what's under this layer of muscles? Most of the anatomy guides don't seem to go into that but are there other muscles under these? When you start sculpting, do you have to account for that? Sorry if these are silly questions

That is a great question Clashe. Yes there are muscles behind these, LOTS of them actually, they are called deep muscles, but as an artist your main concern are the superficial muscles; the ones that we can see.
We focus on the superficial muscles because they are the ones that form the "planes" that light falls on (no light falls on the deep muscles so why bother). If you want more information on these deep muscles you will have to look for anatomy sources that are designed for medical students since they are the ones that need to go into that kind of detail.
You can do fine just by memorizing the superficial shapes of the muscles. However, It is helpful to know some of the deep muscles because they can affect the shape of the superficial muscles. The back is a perfect example of this because under the Trapezius and Latissimus dorsi are the Rhomboid and the Erector spinae muscles which affect their respective shapes.
Don't try to learn it all at once or your head will literally explode... seriously! focus on the superficial muscles and take it one step at a time.
