Yep, just a Dragoness wardancerSo Ellie told me that It's high time to draw a dragon again.... specially one to replace the ageing one in my featured slot.
Then Nova stuck her finger into it and it became a dragoness
Then Stellar edited the pose to hide the bitz so it'll stay as non mature.
Then Leslie got to work with the proportions.
Undivided.
And another char that I drew before giving a name

Dragoness wardancers,
They are dancers, entertainers, bards and performance artists in times of peace, wandering around, spreading their stories, dances and tales with mysterious but awe inspiring dances, often alone, but commonly seen in small troupes.
In times of war, they appear seemingly guided by some higher entity, gracefully weaving through enemy troops, defeating entire squads single handedly.
It appears that they make little distinction between their their dances and their combat style. Only obvious difference is that they usually don't don armour in their usual performances.

Major edit to wings.
Took pointers that wings need to reflect bone structure.
Also reduced wing muscle size to make her look more sleek.

Pain... broken bones... a hospital stay.....
all for a little cuddle on her and possibly a later apology for being too rough?
Worth it?
Probably

That looks good.
Cant wait to see the color version
Now some are saying that the arms and wings are to be the same. That is not true, it depends on many things. What tybe of dragon you are drawing. The classic dragon has six limps.
Or what you feel looks better.
Just see the documentary about dragons. Shows that dragons at some point evolved from having four limps to six

True.
Classic dragons have 6 limbs.
Thanks. Be a while before I colour this though.

thank you to the council for another great piece.
once again I am completely lost on the war hammer stats. however i think the weapon should be a Pike or some other sort of pole with blades in the end. such a weapon could still support the graceful move you describe and be more convincing for the many enemy squads defeated. a pole just doesn't seem dangerous enough.
As for the giant argument about integrated wing or not i think they are just fine separate. the wings could be a little thinner to support the type of grace required.
is the name up for critique? or should we just wait and see.

It's a force staff. These are weapons that are only powerful when wielded by a psyker.
Though the actual weapons wardancers use vary tremendously. Usually they are a sword of sorts.
Yes. Think so too. May have to reduce the muscle a little.

I would keep the wings seperate from the arms and you should keep the wing skin ending at the height of her soulder as it does now. Otherways she would have much problems wit using the staff. Giving the wingskin jagged ends is a very intersting idea.
Very good pose, but her right foot would look better if the toes and not the claws would point in the same direction as the rest of her foot.
Please excuse, but her wings a an anthomical disaster:In their current form they look like having the wrong or no bones. A dragon's wing is constructed like a bat's or a pterodactylon's (tons of reference pics in here)
I have an OC with a combat staff that contains also two hidden blades, one of them to snap out at each end. Each blade has half the staff's length, so using both blades at the same time doubles the staff's length and makes it much more dangerous, turning the fighter into a circle of death. Maybe this concept would also fit to your dragoness.

Yep, consider that.
Though think made the wings little too smooth for the trailing edges......
Her? Oh, no hidden blades for this one, this one's a powerful force-staff.

The description reminds me of a character I control on an RP site whose battle style is also very dance-like.
Seriously though; I love the pose. Just enough to get away with no mature content filter. But I also agree with . You should make an attempt to integrate the wings and arms; as is, they look a bit too cumbersome for her kind to be as gracful as you describe.

Still don't get your point on integrating the wings and the arms.
Not really sure what you're saying. Supposed to make the muscle part thinner or somethin?

Dragon-of-Twilght In reply to Snowfyre [2008-01-27 15:03:40 +0000 UTC]
I'm not sugggesting that. I'm just saying the the wings should be extentions of the arms; not their own seperate appendages.

Snowfyre In reply to Dragon-of-Twilght [2008-01-27 23:04:06 +0000 UTC]
Hmmmm
Oh THAT.
That is part of the design itself. You see, drakes follow bat-like things where the wings are the arms. Ditto to birds, but True dragons have separate arms and wings.

If the wings are integral to the body, the wings should already be treated as the arms of the anthro dragon itself. Commonly, arms and wings are treated as two separate parts, but that's a a misconception. Same case with bats and anthro-birds...

SkyWhiteFox In reply to Poila-Invictiwerks [2008-01-27 10:21:52 +0000 UTC]
Common dragons have both wings and forelimbs(arms in this case) separate. Intergrated arm-wings are supposed to be the case for bats and birds, but for dragons, it is not. Actually, there is a mythical reptile with such a wing configuration, and that'll be wyverns. I'm sure you knew.

Poila-Invictiwerks In reply to SkyWhiteFox [2008-01-27 11:05:26 +0000 UTC]
[link] This article shows a configuration of a pair of wings and a pair of claws as opposed to the dragons which has an extra pair of claws. That helps alot. (I don't know about wyverns prior to this)

Most dragons the arms and wings are separate.
It's a concept thing.

it's actually a heavy metal song, but given the name and the story behind this piece, it seemed pretty apt.
