Description
The rising morning sun bathed through the window down onto Vincent's face. He instinctively winced and he rocked his head side to side. In his subconscious things were far less peaceful for him. He felt like he was swimming in a pool of darkness, back in that cave again. He continued to run but it felt like he was going nowhere. Vincent felt himself trip and he screamed as he seemed to fall into even deeper darkness.

He reached out his paw and grabbed a hold of something, he didn't know what it was and frankly he didn't care, so long as he wouldn't fall any farther. He tried to pull himself up but he found he didn't have the strength. He started to whimper but didn't let go of his grip, he wasn't going to fall any farther. Suddenly he felt himself being pulled up by someone, and for that matter he thought he saw light right above him. He was overcome with joy and would have yelled out in happiness had he not been so afraid.

As he came closer he saw that what was pulling him up was a Pokemon, and it was Veruka. He almost let go of her grasp but she held onto his arm, the light was coming from the fire on top of her head. She finally pulled Vincent all the way up and he wrapped his arms around her. "Veruka, I was so scared, please don't leave me." He started to cry into her fur and she smiled. "It's ok Vincent, I'm here just hold on, everything's going to be okay."

Vincent just nodded his head and strangely the entire world around him suddenly started to get brighter. Vincent suddenly stopped crying and looked around him in confusion. "Veruka, what's happening, what's going on, I feel strange." Veruka didn't say anything instead everything around him got brighter and brighter until Vincent couldn't even see Veruka. His eyes started to hurt and he actually longed for the darkness to return. The entire world suddenly seemed to explode around him and Vincent sat bolt upright and gasped. "VERUKA!"

As soon as Vincent had started groaning and Veruka had told him to hang on she had immediately got Joy and Jenna. By the time they had gotten back Vincent had started to shake and Joy had to have Chansey hold him down. Veruka just watched from the side as Vincent went through his seizure, lightly crying onto the floor the entire time. Suddenly without warning Vincent shouted. "VERUKA!" Veruka gasped and didn't know what to do for a second.

Jenna helped her with that little dilemma. "Veruka, go to him, he needs you, go on." Veruka nodded and slowly walked over to Vincent while Joy tended to him. Joy didn't mind her there and just continued to work. Veruka grabbed Vincent's paw in her hands and held onto it tightly. "Just hold on Vincent, everything's going to be okay." Veruka just continued to calmly talk to Vincent and hold his paw until Joy finally stabilized him.

"Alright, he should be fine now, but make sure to come and get me if anything else changes." Joy walked out and Jenna followed her, leaving Veruka alone again with Vincent. She continued to stroke his head and silently hoped that he would be alright.

Vincent's subconscious had changed significantly, everything was much more like a dream now. He was standing on something all though he couldn't see what it was, he could also see the sky above him and he could hear Veruka's voice. She kept telling him to hold on and to please wake up, this confused him seeing as he felt wide awake.

He looked up at the sky and thought that it looked rather strange. It took him a second to recognize why, the sky was also dark, it was just a lighter shade. Vincent suddenly gasped and he also realized his eyes were closed, that was why everything was so dark. He snapped his eyes open but immediately closed them as he was blinded by a flash of light. He winced and sat straight up.

"VINCENT, are you alright, hang in there!" It took Vincent's eyes a second to adjust to the light and he looked around, confused. He was laying in a bed with a white sheet on, he had electrodes attached to his chest and there was a needle in the back of his paw. He looked over to the side of the bed and was shocked to see Veruka there. "Veruka, what's going on, where am I, and why did you leave me earlier?"

Veruka didn't say anything, she just grabbed Vincent and hugged him tight. "Oh Vincent, I was so worried about  you." Vincent didn't say anything for a second. "Um, Veruka, what happened, and is this a dream?" Veruka thought for a second. "You don't remember what happened, with the Arcanine, you tried to impress me and got hurt, remember?" Vincent thought for a second and suddenly he was hit with a terrible headache.

He groaned in pain and Veruka immediately looked him in the eye. "Vincent, what's wrong, are you feeling alright?" Vincent shook his head no. "I have a headache, and yeah I remember all of it, Veruka, I'm so sorry, I should never have tried that, but I just wanted to impress you so much, I'm sorry I worried you." Vincent started to cry and Veruka gently rocked him. "There there, it's alright Vincent, just don't do that again and we'll be fine." He sniffed and nodded.

She cradled him for a few more minutes before she stood up. "I'm going to go get something to eat, do you want anything?" Vincent shook his head yes and Veruka was about to leave when Vincent called to her. "Veruka, thanks for being my light in the dark through all of this, I couldn't have made it through without you." Veruka smiled and nodded as Vincent laid his head back down and fell asleep.
