Description
"The views of swamp itself were rather enjoyable, when we weren’t spinning around; the croaking call of frogs on the water’s surface mixed pleasantly with the spring songs of birds high in the trees above us. Low-hanging boughs that nearly touched the water were heavy with new leaves and hanging mosses, some bedecked with tiny fragrant white flowers. Occasionally as we floated along, we would even see one or two of the huge pink Deku flowers growing out of an old log or small patch of mud."

An illustration from a Majora's Mask story I'm writing (it's not yet online, I'm still proofreading with lots of help from ). I wanted to color in a different way than normal, to make it look more like a watercolor painting than anything with hard lines. But wow that background...I love doing them, but there's about 4.5 straight hours of effort in there.
I also wanted to try a slight re-imagining of the Southern Swamp and Woodfall area. In the game, they were very much limited to what the N64's hardware could do. I love the idea of a slightly darker and enclosed swamp. It's gloomy, but in a kind of comforting kind of way. Also, the darkness might explain the need for Deku Scrubs to have glowing eyes - it helps finding your way a lot when you're your own flashlight!
Also, punting oneself along on a lily pad seems like it would be really fun, as long as you didn't crash into anything.

Love the water effect! And the bright eyes make a nice contrast with the rest of the image.

I've been busy, and it's taken me a while to get to your story. However, let me just say that I love it so far! I just got to the part where Kat tries to use Din's Fire for the first time, haha.

I literally just finished Majora's Mask for the however-how-many-times-I've-played-it just yesterday, and I am LITERALLY listening to remixes of the Song of Healing as I am going through DA, AND writing this comment out!
Funny how it goes, lol. xD
This is just VERY AWESOME though! I saw "Southern Swamp" and I immediately thought of the Southern Swamp from Majora's Mask, thus clicked it, and here I am!
I. Love. This.
And. I. Feel. Inspired.
Haha actually yesterday I was working on a sort of "real" depiction of a Hyrulean Soldier encountering Kokiri in the forest. But the lore in my head and the elements involved in this picture are a tad different than what is depicted in Ocarina of Time.
It needs a LOT of work, though... drawing human figures is not quite my forte...
But seriously. This is a masterpiece, and I envy you for it.
I need to push myself.
Perhaps draw more Zelda art - my gallery has far too few art relating to my favourite game series.
Your depiction of the Southern Swamp is majestic.
I seriously am not sure how to exactly portray my feelings about it into the right words, hence my constant rambling.
I only hope this rambling accounts for something, ahahaha.
I see Link.

I'm so glad and humbled that you've been inspired by this!
And yes that is Link.

It's easy to inspire when it involves my favourite game series of all.
And Majora's Mask... one of the best, in my opinion.
...you know the hype about wanting a re-release of Majora's Mask? Some say for 3DS, others want an HD remake for Wii U.
Personally I would relish it on the Wii U and I would buy it without hesitation.
Haha it was his cap that gave him away. I then realised that Tatl was there, I have no idea how I missed her, she sticks out like a sore thumb!
...I shall have to assume you are a fan of Legend of Zelda.
I am also interested in your story... you're writing one, yes? Is it up for reading?

I'd love a remake on either system...though I have to say that fanmade 'trailer' of a Wii U Majora's Mask spoiled me something rotten...If only, eh?
I'm currently writing and proofreading the story, but I haven't put it up anywhere yet. I'm one of those writers that has to go over it a bunch of times before I let anyone see it...but I'm making pretty good progress (I'm up to the part with Snowhead right now). I'll hopefully start posting chapters soon!

Oh yes, I have seen that cinematic many times, and the appearance was such eye candy I just WANTED IT.
Some say it wasn't fanmade, and that perhaps it was leaked, when it was supposed to be all hush-hush.
But even if it is a fanmade cinematic, it sure as hell put fuel on the fire for a remake to that quality, huh? I know I want it!!
And with some of the Majora's Mask themes remade or remixed, there are some pretty amazing musical compositions... can you imagine?
I figured that was the case... and it makes sense, I mean, what if you are writing a later chapter, insert a section or event, and it would be better if it had some roots in a previous chapter, like a foreshadowing, or form of development? Then altering a chapter already submitted could be a bit of a pain, to you and the readers...
But I am eager to see what you have done.

I hope there's something in the works for Majora's Mask...otherwise that cameo in A Link Between Worlds was just a cruel, cruel joke...
I often end up readjusting previous chapters after I write, so it's usually better for me not to post it right away...then again, that's why 's been proofreading for me. She's awesome at picking out plot-holes.

They have to. They MUST. Because it would be so cruel otherwise... I noticed the Majora's Mask in Link's house IMMEDIATELY and got all excited! xD
...if they don't give us Majora's Mask, I shall cry.
Then start some kind of vendetta movement.
But mostly cry.
...although I have to wonder... because I can't help but believe there IS something in the works for Majora's Mask... but if it's true, then surely we would have heard something about it, right?
.......unless they had bigger plans for it..?
Or maybe that is just wishful thinking...
Lol knew it, but I totally agree with that tactic. My MLP story (oh yeah, I like MLP, lol) which I started in 2008 or 2009 has been altered slightly since submission... so I plan to write a bunch before submitting again.
Oh... and funnily enough, there is a link (lol, a LINK) between my MLP story and Majora's Mask - see there are five provinces in the story, each named for the seasons of Summer, Winter, Autumn, and Spring - with a central province.
The town of Seasons is the central town of this world... kinda makes me think of Termina in a way if I think about it. xD
But in the province to the west, which is represented by autumn, it's main town is called... Woodfall. xD (And yes, I took that name from Majora's Mask - everything else is actually a coinkidink... xD)
...come to think of it, you could say the four surrounding regions surrounding Clock Town in Majora's Mask could be seasonal...
Great Bay = Summer
Snowhead = Winter
Southern Swamp = Spring
Ikana Canyon = Death... I mean, Autumn. Well, dead things in Ikana, in Autumn things kinda die, right?
...I'm rambling, aren't I..?

Guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed! In the meantime I'm enjoying what they did with A Link Between Worlds (can't help it, I'm a sucker for nostalgia and this one got me right in my weak point), and I'm actually still not done with OOT3D (but I love the updated look).
I've been slowly updating my old stuff on FF.net, but so far only one 'newer' version of one of my old fics is up.

We shall! Lol I myself am a sucker for nostalgia - too many happy memories that give you warm fuzzies and have the ability to make you smile like a nitwit. Which nostalgia were you referring to, by the way? The Majora's Mask, or the fact it was Link to the Past Hyrule?
I have to say I loved the game myself, I never, EVER regret purchasing a Zelda game.
There was a bit of nostalgia in Skyward Sword too - entering the Silent Realms, it was like collecting the tears of light in Twilight Princess. Although I do have to say when I first entered the Silent Realm in Skyward Sword, it scared the hell outta me, and I hesitated to enter Nayru's Silent Realm once I realised I came up to it... xD
Oh? If I may ask, can I have a link?
No, no! I mean hyperlink!!

I'm part of the old skool generation, so seeing aLttP's Hyrule again gave me all sorts of warm fuzzies. That part at the beginning of the game, where you're asked to find an alternate way into Sanctuary, I actually said out loud, "but there's a secret way in through the graveyard!" about 2 seconds before Dampé mentioned it in-game. I love the newer games too, but aLttP really set the formula and tone of the whole series...and a lot of the really famous songs from the Zelda series came from it...the fairy fountain theme...Zelda's lullaby...Ganon(dorf)'s leitmotif...
This is my FF.net...um, the only one on there that's recent is 'An Act to Follow HD.' It was the result of my New Years' Resolution from 2013...that I needed to start writing again.

This is so amazing! I love the detail you've put into this! I always picture the swamp being this way. I also see you have the same idea I do about getting around at the swamp in my fanfics, my OC's often just hop on a lilypad and push them along with sticks rather than hopping (unless hopping water is necessary)
Lovely job~!
