Rendered in DAZ Studio 4, lots of color correction in Photoshop but very little fixing or other postwork. Thank you very much for viewing!

Haha, thank you! This was a fun image to make because I'm not usually able to illustrate the non-fighting parts of her story.Β

You're welcome! I'm turning my fanfic into a manga via Poser, so I'm already seeing scenes I'll have that kind of trouble with.

Yeah it can be tough to find just the right environment. I have much less luck with background stuff than most other veteran 3D artists, so having a lot of different parts to choose from can be useful. Sometimes you can lucky and find a set at DAZ or Rendo that is just what you want, but more often than not, you'll have to put together something from a variety of props. Of course, make sure you save any assembled scene separately without any figures when it's built so can use it in multiple renders.Β

Good ideas, I'm definitely going to keep this in mind! My biggest issue is that my characters live in feudal Japan, and some are royalty, but I can't find a decent enough home for them to render.

DAZ has some pretty good Japanese interiors, be sure to look carefully. Some of the sets made for a slightly more modern time might also work if you replace the props with feudal period ones too. You might want to take a look on Japanese 3D content sites too, although it's been a long time since I've been to any and most of the links I had are broken now.

Hey good advice there. Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, I've been really tired lately D: As for the dead links, that's my problem too >_<

Hope you find what you need to make your art when you feel up to it! I'm pretty tired these days too, I keep wanting to make something new but can't bring myself to get started.Β :\

are all your renders with the following settings you mentioned in a journal entry?
Bucket Order: Horizontal (this is up to you though)
Bucket Size: 16
Max Ray Trace Depth: 1 (I don't need extremely accurate reflections)
Pixel Samples X: 12
Pixel Samples Y: 12
Shadow Samples: 24
Gain: 1.00
Gamma Correction: Off
Gamma: 1.00
Shading Rate: 0.10 (this is important. My value is low on purpose, it's slower but better).
Pixel Filter: Sinc
Pixel Filter Width (X): 6.00
Pixel Filter Width (Y): 6.00
Motion Blur is off
if yes ... what do you do after rendering to make them look sharp and high quali?

SnowSultan In reply to skyearts-photography [2014-08-03 18:30:56 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I haven't changed those settings in years.Β
Just a Sharpen filter in Photoshop (and then faded because it's always too strong by default) will make things very sharp, but I don't like to do that all the time because it detracts from a fantasy or hand-painted look. I do a LOT of color correction in Photoshop, but almost never any precise sharpening or anything to try and improve detail. If you use those same render settings (or the other ones that I think are mentioned in a comment in that thread), all of the detail you need should come through in the render.
Hope that helps!

I've recently discovered Smacky. I think she's *explative* awesome! I'm really diggin' the different sides of this character. I love that she has more than just a bikini in her wardrobe! Can't wait to see more!!

One of my fav of your works so far, no that I don't like action but the whole scene is so lively and it's quite the challenge with 3D !
