Description A relatively common warship in the Unanimity Navy, the Janva-class lacks many of the Ion Beamers and Tachyon Accelerators the AUN Heavy Cruiser packs, but makes up for this with sheer volume of lasers, serving more as the ship-to-ship equivalent of an automatic rifle to the Heavy Cruiser's RPG. This is not to say the Janva-class is weak; its lone spinal gun can deal vicious damage to vessels much larger than itself, and in coordinated volleys can rip said ships apart. The standard lasers are individually average, but in the focused volleys the Unanimity is known to employ, their combined firepower can melt through hulls at breakneck speeds, often with entire broadsides focused on as few as one to three points.
ARMAMENTS
Photon Beamer:
Standard fixed ship-to-ship lasers employed by Unanimity warships. Incapable of articulation, Photon Beamers rely on an angling lens at the end of the projector to enact firing vectors, giving them somewhat limited capacity for aiming. However, Photon Beamers are robust, easy to both produce and maintain, and possesses respectable firepower for such a comparably simple weapon(though still much more complex than a conventional mass driver). The Janva-class possesses 252 of these.
Photon Turret: Standard articulating ship-to-ship gun on Unanimity warships, the Photon Turret is notably slower than the Photon Beamer thanks to the need for turret mechanisms and mobile focusing systems to accommodate. To make up for this loss, Photon Turrets possess much more robust focusing arrays and much larger capacitor banks, making up for the loss in speed with sheer firepower, individually much stronger than one or two Photon Beamers. The Janva-class possesses 8 of these.
Ion Beamer: The 'midrange' Unanimity weapon in terms of firepower, Ion Beamer lances travel much slower than the dazzling lightshow of lasers that make up the bulk of the Unanimity arsenal, but make up for this with damage. The unstable particle lances break down on impact, turning into a ball of highly excited, ionised plasma, melting through materials much faster than many lasers can, and often frying nearby ship systems or reactive armour types. The Janva-class possesses 4 of these.
Spinal Accelerator: Easily the most powerful part of the Janva-class cruiser's arsenal, this heavy duty tachyon cannon runs roughly half the length of the Janva-class, and can be incredibly devastating when used correctly. The virtual inability to aim by itself makes this weapon difficult to use in close range, however at long ranges this gun can serve as an effective heavy duty sniper, bashing through shields or punching through the critical systems of those with their shields down. The Janva-class possesses only one of these, as that is as many as the vessel can safely power.
DEFENCES
Particle Barrier:
This shield normally uses a suspended barrier of particulate mass as an external barrier, best serving against energy weapons but greatly reducing the effectiveness of kinetic fire as well. In recent times the Unanimity have been working to make this an energised barrier, and as one of the mainstay ships of the Unanimity navy, the Janva-class is among the first to receive such upgrades.
Impact Armour: This is one of the most common solid armour types employed by the Unanimity. Multiple energised composite layers designed to stop kinetic impacts and spread the kinetic energy out to lessen damage. External layering is a series of thermal-conductive lattices designed to disperse thermal energy to minimise energy weapons damage.
PD Nets: These self-defence arrays are a two-part system. The main element is the series of laser ball turrets serving to destroy missiles, snubcraft and sometimes kinetic weapons fire from long distances. At close range these can be focused to destroy guns, most particularly the PD weapons of enemy vessels, though they are not designed for this. At closer ranges, the arrays make use of heavy particle flak guns, four per ball laser, that are limited in articulation but much more devastating than the lasers, shredding enemy munitions apart.
