Description

By the time the second appeal rolled around, Hunter was finally starting to get used to all the other contestants and their pokemon. He enjoyed seeing all of their costumes, and even getting to pet the occasional star. He even held a few short conversations with some of the other coordinators, albeit translated by Lara. Time backstage seemed to fly with the good atmosphere back there and by the time the green light let them know it was their turn to go out on stage, Hunter had nearly missed the call.

He buttoned up his jacket, grabbed his umbrella and followed Rainbow out onto the stage to see a large dancefloor and a surprisingly well painted backdrop courtesy of Lara and some friends. The second theme, Bloom and Gloom, called for torrents of rain and luckily Rainbow was just the pokemon for that. He held out his hands to her to give her the stage and she started her Rain Dance, the entire stage lighting up in a downpour almost instantly.

Now that they and the stage were thoroughly soaked, Hunter joined her dance. Some of it was taken from some stage show Lara had insisted they get down the choreography for while the rest of it was just the two of them having fun. They improvised and splashed each other to the beat of the music, until the rain finally came to a stop. As it did the backdrop fell, revealing a second one behind it. Instead of the gloomy night time cityscape this one showed a bright and sunny garden covered with flowers and other flora.

In time with the music change Hunter and Rainbow spun, tossing their coats away to reveal the flower inspired outfits they were wearing underneath. Hunter opened his umbrella to show off the flower pattern there covering Rainbow as he did so. While behind the cover the simipour used Double Team, four of her spinning out in opposite directions with their own tiny flower umbrellas. The five of them splashed around in the leftover puddles, spinning their umbrellas and posing for the crowd as the new song faded out. They gave the crowd a wave, parading off the stage to the sound of applause.

Hunter didn’t even seem to be aware of the crowd, dropping down to his knees with an excited expression as soon as they were backstage. The four Rainbows turned to him, mirroring the smile as they all leapt for him. The three fakes disappeared as she fell into his arms, hugging him tightly as she excitedly bounced on her toes. Hunter could understand why she had wanted to enter so badly. Now that he was here he could see just how much fun it was. Even if he wasn’t after the fame like she was dressing up and performing was an amazing way to spend an afternoon with your pokemon. Two down and one left to go. If they hadn’t wowed the crowd by not the last one surely would.
