i made the spline of domo over an image i had rendered earlier, then used a great lil plugin for cinema 4d called spline noise...so it is basically made in cinema 4d ;D but using the path deform in max would deliver the same result, alas the c4d plugin allows you to control where the spline has the spiral, and where the same spline stays undeformed...
