VOLUCRISTER

These little devils are known as the “bird people”. These creatures are one of the most number of subspecies, each developed after multiple types of birds. However, they aren’t “bird-brains”. Each subspecies have created multiple “nests” in which a large number live together.

The environment they live in influences their culture greatly. When living amongst more humans, they tend to wear clothing while the ones who don’t see much creatures wearing such odd accessories will remain nude. However, even within human or non-human contact, they keep their tribal customs. They are quite common around large cities and forests, often infesting the skies and stealing from the unlucky victims that live below.

More common around the crow-types, they do not respect ownership and steal whatever they like—usually shiny objects or things that make noise. Whatever they steal, they will stash in their nest and are known to never give it back. However, don’t go too near their nest or, like bees, all of the Volucristers living in the nest will attack you—quite viciously too.

TRAITS
They appear as human-bird hybrids—having arms completely covered in feathers and work as wings.
Although most wings look the same, their tails depend on their sub-species.

Their colours will vary depending on their environment and subspecies, they usually don’t have a grand colour scheme, aside from the more tropical Volucristers.

Both their eyes and their visions are much like a birds; they can withstand a lot of wind pressure as well as have excellent eyesight. Their nighttime vision, however, depends on their subspecies. Owl-based Volucristers have better eyesight than the pigeon-based Volucristers.

Unlike birds, they actually have human-like mouths that hold quite sharp fangs. This allows them to eat both meat and plant-life.
Height wise they can have a range of being 5 to 7’5” feet tall. Their height also greatly depends on the breed of bird they’re based off.
They actually have four claw-like fingers, each palm with a thumb.
Unlike birds, their ears are not just holes—they are framed like human ears yet shrouded in feathers.

HEART GEM AND ARCANE
Volucrister’s heart gems will always be located behind their neck, usually covered up by feathers making it harder to locate. It’s colour would be that of their main arcane type.
It is most common for them to have arcane attributed with air or sound, but depending on their place of origin, their arcane will reflect that.

LIFESPAN AND AGING
Volucristers age normally until the age of 20, then from onwards they will age only one year for every 6.Ex. A Volucrister that looks 25 could be 50They can live up to 500 - 800 years old.

LOCATION
Counting on their species will count on where they live. Ex. A tropical bird would live in a tropical jungle, forest type bird in a forest, etc.

LIFESTYLE
The less society integrated a Volucrister is, the more tribal-like they live, living in nest with their family pretty much their entire youth until they find a mate to make their own nest. It’s rare that a Volucrister will live alone (But not completely uncommon counting on their species). Those that live more around humans will live otherwise (Such as pigeons, small birds, crows, etc.).
