I've found him lousy when i was a kid but now he's one of my favourites ....

Indeed, I was rewatching the original Star Wars a few weeks back and realized how bug-like he was. Its almost as if he was engineered to be as repulsive as possible so that we couldn't wait for Han to shoot him. He was just a guy you loved to loathe.
