Description Stress, anxiety and depression can be linked to dissociation. This painting helps describe just a small fraction of how this disorder feels. Sometimes you feel detached from the world, your own body and your very thoughts. Depersonalization disorder is a dissociative disorder that can feel like an out of body experience. Sometimes you can only hold on for so long before you must let go.

This image has been floating (har, har) in my head for quite some time so I really enjoyed painting this one. A lot of layers went into that starry scene. Whew.

very interesting!
Sometimes I feel quite the same way - how easy it would be to just let go, dunno... stop answering the phone or going outside... Just how fragile is thr part that keeps one together.

I love this concept. Especially the page coming up from the corner where the last rabbit is trying to hold on....I think you did a great job of getting your point across. Did you use white rabbits by chance as a sign of innocence? Either way, great work! ;D

Thank you so much for your comments. I used to have rabbits and my last one was a little white rabbit with pale blue eyes.. she was definitely the inspiration for this painting.

I am so sorry for your loss. I used to be a bunny owner myself and it's amazing what an impact they can have on our lives. I hope time will help heal you. To be honest, one of my bunnies Lucy has inspired some of my art - and she's the one that's made her way into this painting.

Such an adorable, gorgeous and seemingly innocent illustration, when matched with the disorder of depersonalisation makes it really resonant for some reason. Really beautiful painting.

Thank you so much for your comments@ I've been trying to create some art with a little bit more of myself, but not too far away from the whimsical, cutesy things I've done before; so I hoped this was a nice bridge between the two

I just read your description stress anxiety and depression like you said it is a small fraction how this awful disorder feels it is one of the worse feelings a person can ever experience, painting helps me cope with it. So many people I know do NOT know or understand what it is like. Amazing painting

sobeyondthis In reply to youlittlemonkey [2012-04-11 20:21:43 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much; it means a lot! I'm trying to put a little more of myself into the paintings. It's been a hard process but it always blows me away when people can relate.

I find paining helps me with my depression and anxiety. None of my siblings have anxiety attacks they do NOT care or understand how horrible it can be.
