HEY YOU. Since when did you start using Painter 8?! I've been using the Corel Painter line for a while -- I guess I'm not a good resource for art tips but I have more experience in Corel Painter 7-IX than many other apps.
Painter 8 is definitely an awful choice though, as Painter IX is much less resource intensive and let's you actually WORK. Trust me, brushes and everything run so much smoother in it... but if it is for a class I guess you can't control that... in my CAD class I photoshop at my leisure. Thing is, they have Photoshop 5 LE (the free versions that come with cheap shit?) and no internet whatsoever so I have to bring stocks and brushes on floppy in order to do anything; although it is a miserable program to use so you still got the better end of the rope.
I just really hope this isn't your background layer and you're painting over it. Never trace!!! Trust me, everything sucks that way and, though seldom, can look like a simple filter was placed on it. Don't even put the image on any layer of your current image. Yo.

lol just started for this class. I have painter 9 but at school they just have 8. It is crappy having to go work on that after working at home.
and lol that is what she has had us do so far for practice. Trace and then clone brush stuff in.
For the other two pictures I have to do though it all has to be pencil or pens. I think I am much better drawing stuff out of my head instead of trying to look at something and copy draw it but we will see...
