Have a page full of woofers! These are the rest of the sketches I never got around to posting the other day. Socks was sketched in the car, the rest were done randomly whenever I found a few minutes to put pencil to paper.

SURVIVORS! Oh, yes. My favorite book series...ever. I finally got to read Storm of Dogs (and flew through it in less than two days) and...and... Right in the feels, man. Right in the feels.

I'm gonna be posting a SPOILER or two in the text to follow so don't read any further if you don't want spoilers. You have been warned.

Alpha the wolfdog has been one of my favorite characters from the start...oh yes, he can be a despicable bastard. I love him anyway. After I read "Alpha's Tale" I loved him even more. Everyone else seems to hate him, especially after the fifth book. Despite being a lousy leader and a traitor to the pack I still loved him. I wanted so much to see him redeem himself somehow but instead...instead his fate was so much like Scar's that I swear I almost dropped the book out of my hands.

"Alpha, NO! You're making the same mistake as SCAR! NOOOO!!"

I'm serious. There's a scene towards the end .... Alpha begs for mercy when he's beaten. So Lucky gives him a chance to run. Run away and never return. He accepts and slinks away. Oh, but it's a trick because he comes back for another attack. Sound familiar yet? And then he's flipped off of Lucky's back and breaks his neck on the ice...the difference here is he doesn't get eaten alive. Thank god. Scar's end must have been agonizing, at least Alpha's was quick...but still. There were some VERY sad scenes in this book...and some that were extremely graphic and gut wrenching. What happens to Fang is probably the worst thing ever. I cried for both him and Martha but I'm probably one of the only people that cried for Alpha.

Damnit Alpha. Damnit Scar. Why didn't either of you run when you had the chance!?

I'm still so amused/saddened over how closely Alpha's fate resembles Scar's that I'm doing a comic about it. Watch for that soon-ish.
