XD to be perfectly honest with you, drawing 100000 pictures of Furrball isn't really what i'd like to do and in taking on more challenges to get better at drawing, i need to diversify my portfolio XDDD
and since Socks and 's Jackfruit happen to be the coolest characters without their own tv shows... yeah. all i need is some free time

Oh I know what ya mean, I think I draw Scar too much for my own good...I KNOW I do. XD Drawing too much of the same thing isn't very helpful (except to improve on that one thing, of course) but I just can't help myself and my addiction. Nothing wrong with drawing a lot of Furball (or in my case Scar) if it makes you happy of course! I have been trying to do some other things (like my recent attempts at realism and humans) but I always come back to what inspires me most. XD I'm glad you find Socks inspiring and fun ant any rate, I feel the same about Sparkz! Toon style is my favorite style so he's really fun for me to draw.
I'll hafta check out your friend's page now too XD

the last thing i need is another obsession, but lately drawing Furrball is like "meh" now... if i want to be happy drawing him again i need to do other things. as many times as you've drawn Scar, you also draw many other things as well so you can always go back to him. unfortunately for me with Furrball, i'm not sure whether to visualize him has a homeless kid or a teen dad and that severely limits what i can draw with him and actually be motivated to finish at the moment.
for the record your drawings of hyoomans are fantastic and full of
there's just something so darned endearing about Socks that you just can't wait to see what he'll be doing next and since you're always posting in the twilight hours while i'm at work, it's never lonely to work XDDDD
man, i gotta get out more. maybe i need a sane job.
but yeah... if you're not too troubled by how i drew him last time, i'd definitely like to draw him some more!
XD yeah CHaRB is one of those people that is so darned awesome and she doesn't even realize it. XD
which is subsequently how the vast majority of my friends are. XD
hey aren't you that way too?

She totally is and it' so nice to see traditional art on her page too. I'm not the only one that relies on colored pencils, hooray! You know the same can be said about you man, you're totally awesome and so is your art - whether you admit it or not! XD
I still draw Scar more than anything else (at least one Scar sketch a day, that seems to be the rule my creativity has decided upon XD) Animals in general also really inspire me though; once in a while I get motivated to try something overly challenging (like human hands...ugh, they drive me mad ) but sketching realism can help with improving art overall. In fact most say to learn to draw the subject realistically and THEN try it in cartoon styles...but it doesn't work that way for me. XD They're two very different things. I'm off on another ramble though. Thanks again for all the comments, really appreciate it
PS: Sorry about the laggy reply, I zonked out last night at...whenever. XD

i know what you mean about hands. in fact whenever possible i avoid drawing hands of any kind. it's a terrible habit and must stop. I'm going to have a class on nothing but hands and eyes (looking into the direction they're supposed to be looking at) soon enough so hopefully that won't be an issue after a bit.
Yeah, she's awesome. You're awesome. many people are awesome in their own way. many people are not XD
i try not to contradict awesome people when they say something/someone is awesome, but i still maintain that my awesome does not lie in drawing. One day it will... that's a goal of mine, but i'm not even close yet. and that's cool XD it took forever and a half for me to become awesome at what i AM awesome at, so i can be patient. besides, people that become awesome at something in a short period of time tend not to respect that awesome and lose their awesome before long or peak too early.
but you're still super nice to say that
it's fascinating how your brain works, when drawing... getting it "correct" in your brain first and then exaggerating that mental image to do different styles. that is an awesome ability. i still haven't developed my mind's eye in terms of drawing yet so that i can 'see' something before i've drawn it. i still see things in textual format... but if i work harder at sketching (and do my art homework) eventually i hope to be able to rely a lot less on preset poses and proportions and figure out what is me. XD
lol there is never anything to be sorry about when it comes to this XD i'm usually at work at night and so... yeah. whenever is whenever

I do the exact same thing...XD "How can I hide the hands in this picture!? Hands behind the back, in the pockets, behind another character...etc etc!" I always look for a way to avoid them. XD Well usually. Recently I tried drawing my own hands, I snapped a picture of myself with my hands cupped and used that as a reference for "Compassion in Your Hands", which didn't come out AS crappy as it could have, I guess. XD
Stuff never comes out on paper the same way it looks in my head, but I try. XD It's always been hard for me to view things the "normal" way. I mean, in pretty much every art book they teach you to start with shapes, and that's never been easy for me. I try to start with a basic circle for the head most of the time but other than that, it's generally just very...spazzy, and always has been. I'm jealous of you getting classes though, insanely so. XD

that picture you were talking about with the hands, i think that was the first time i realized 've been doing all this time, with what i eat. XD i haven't had any red meat since i saw that. XD if i could only get off on poultry i'd be home free.
and yeah... you draw hands fabulously. XDDD i gotta study that in class very soon. XD hopefully i'll pick it up, but even the greatest teacher in the world can't work miracles if the student's not ready yet.

There's lots of vegan chicken options out there; a variety of brands (sometimes it takes a little exploring to figure out which ones suit your tastes) Here's a short list (I usually get Boca): [link] and then there's this: [link] <- that is honestly the first time I've ever heard of vegan fried chicken, but it looks yum XD
Nah I'm not that good with hands, but thanks XD I gotta practice them more Practice makes perfect, even if you don't notice it right away...and again I should listen to myself, but I don't XD

i totally don't get it XDDD seems pretty processed. i'll have to look into it, though! if i can make awesome dishes without animal products, i could totally open up a restaurant. XDDDD
um yes. you definitely are XDDDD practicing doesn't hurt anyone except those that practice the wrong way (me apparently from what i'm seeing doing my homework ) but yeah everything is reversible if one so desires!

SocksTheMutt In reply to 8OV [2012-09-10 16:13:48 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I admit processed isn't the best way to go but I can't help my love for Daiya vegan cheese. XD I try to focus more on whole foods as much as I can; I'm a total fruit addict so that helps XD I have a vegan friend who actually IS opening her own restaurant soon (the first ever all vegan restaurant in my town ) she's an amazing chef! Here's the page for it: [link] I can't wait!
Thanks again, and I don't think you can practice the "wrong way", art is a constant learning experience...things don't always turn out the way you planned but you learn from mistakes as you go along, even if it's not obvious at first. And then sometimes "mistakes" ARE art...if that makes any sense XD

the link turns my internet off for some reason
fruits are awesome, but expensive
especially the tasty ones. XD
that makes sense, though... prcticing imperfections perfects a style once you master your imperfects and "own" them, they become deliberations and no longer mistakes. XD
i used to punch to high when i was boxing, so i just kinda changed my style to focusing on the head rather than the body and it totally worked. makes sense.
it'd make sense to Picasso

Weird Well sorry about that D:
Fruit is easier (and usually cheaper) to get during the summer, plus I LOVE fresh summer peaches from the farmer's market it sucks how expensive fresh whole food is in most grocery stores DX

XDDD i tried it on my work computer too to no avail. i'm scared. they took down the website to that one movie about the moon landing... what was it, "lunartruth.com" or something? XDDDDD
who is that anonymous 'they"? Illuminati?
oh no... now i'm going to start my rant about the very REASON why fresh food is so darned expensive and processed crap is so darned cheap is because somebody obviously profits GREATLY from massive heart problems and a generally unhealthy population because it's easier to control them when they aren't in their right minds and thinking about it, since i've stopped eating red meat i think more clearly i'm able to dream again and i'm generally less angry. coincidence? perhaps, but again...
let me stop because this could totally go on for pages.

Oh you NAILED it! I could rant about that for hours too. Let's feed the population cheap processed crap that'll give them disease after disease, 'cause doctors can make a HUGE profit from that. I mean shit, if everyone is healthy how are they suppose to make money? If people started to look at food as preventive medicine we'd all be a lot better off. Earlier this year I was doing the fruit cleanse thing, I'd swap at least one meal a day for ALL fruit and one day a week I'd have nothing but fruit, all day. Plus I was drinking a lot more water, ditched the sodas and was exercising for at least a half hour a day. I need to get back into that routine, I've fallen off course. Anyway when I was doing that it felt amazing; I was loosing weight too. It's really amazing, the health benefits of fruit...blueberries are a great example. Instead of posting a novel though I'll just link to this site: [link] (that one should work, loads fine for me anyway
and btw the cafe site isn't loading for me now either, wonder what happened o_O I'll hafta ask my friend next time I talk to her, or maybe the sites just down cause it was working fine last night XD)

helpfuL!!! bookmarked! !!!
which makes you wonder... i take multivitamins every day... they don't seem to do jack.
i mean really... are they really vitamins? concentrated pills with more than 100% daily recommended dosage should be fine right? maybe not... maybe that kind of concentration actually negates the positive effects of having the natural whole foods which is why even if you eat processed foods and have alot of vitamin supplements, you still get sick and stuff. but there's nowhere that it says that. because those are the same )#()#(@s that make the money off of the heart diseases. but what are they making the money for? what are they investing in? and why???
that's one of the reasons i ran away from this place in the first place. but also one reason why i came back. running away doesn't solve anything.
GAH!!! power!!!
or .. yeah.
