Woah! MAJOR Nostalgia trip, man!! I haven't drawn these guys in years. I drew Meowth a year or two ago for old time's sake but the whole trio? Nope. Granted I never drew Jessie or James as much as I drew Meowth back in the day (in part because I'm so bad at humans and, for me, Jessie's HAIR is a nightmare to get right. Damn you, Jessie's hair!
) So as you may or may not know but I was seriously obsessed with Pokemon during my teen years (saying that makes me feel SO old 
) Thing is I wasn't all that into the games themselves. Sure I played the gameboy game and occasionally the card game, but the main reason I loved Pokemon was because of the Team Rocket trio (Jessie, James and Meowth...especially Meowth!) Shit, my main focus in the gameboy game was having a level 100 Meowth that I REFUSED to teach Pay Day, just because Team Rocket's Meowth couldn't do Pay Day (since he used up all his energy learning how to walk and talk like a human) and you know...my Meowth was the Meowth, down to every little detail. 
Anyways, there is no denying that Meowth and Team Rocket were, at one point in time, one of my major obsessions (I dare say as big as my Scar addiction) and I'll always have a soft spot for them. Back in my day *old face* when the Pokemon anime had plots outside of "Ash discovers a new pokemon, battles, wins a gym badge, Team Rocket blasts off again" there were some really good episodes and the BEST ones were those that centered on Team Rocket. Giving the "villains" complex back stories, character development, relationship building...it was something that really pulled me in, even as a kiddo. Most "bad guys" are just that, we don't ever get to know much, if anything, about their pasts (*cough*Disney*cough*) or their reasons for being the way they are. In short, Team Rocket - to me - is pretty damn deep! At least they used to be. I admit I haven't watched the show since the voice actors were changed but from the last I saw it seemed to be going downhill. :\
About this sketch? First of all I am planning to ink/color it...someday when I find the time. Hopefully soon! Second, I know what you're wondering: "what's up with Togepi, Growlithe and Mew!? They weren't in Team Rocket!" Right...but they each have a special connection to the main trio in one way or another! If you haven't yet I highly suggest watching "Holy Matrimony" to learn about James' childhood friend Growlie, "Who Gets to Keep Togepi?" for Meowth's little "eggy weggy" Togepi (did you know this is partly where I got my "eggy" nickname!?
) and, if you can find it with subtitles (or know Japanese), the radio drama Birth of Mewtwo to find out about Jessie's mother, Miyamoto and her connection to Mew (I personally think Mew would remember Jessie, since Miyamoto shows her picture) I know I could have done Chansey ("Ignorance is Blissy") for Jessie but for some reason the whole Miyamoto/Mew/Jessie story feels deeper to me. 
There are many episodes that focus on or have great Team Rocket moments but in my honest opinion, if I had to choose only a few episodes of the whole series to recommend, it would have to be the following (in order of appearance):

This is adorable and I almost cried. I love the story of Miyamoto and hope they go deeper into it one day. And Togepi and Growlie too! Everything about Team Rocket. At least they still have good episodes. I recommend "A Fork in the Road! A Parting of the Ways!" It's in XY and makes me cry.

I guess only the very old Fans know, that James had a Fukano ;v; omg that Episode.. it was so touching and sweet and adorable. Just like your Drawing ;v; Team Rocket is awesome. But I started "dislike" them, when they left their good, old PKMN behind. Arbok and that other one. I never can remember its english Name XD Its Smogmog in german XD

i was a kid when i saw that show....well a teenager. i saw a few episodes. and then i forgot about the show.

Always! I had a SCARY huge addiction to Meowth back in the day...someday (when I can face my fears about getting into the other house) I'll have to take pictures of the literal "Meowth/Team Rocket Shrine" I had in my room....nothing strange about that, right? 
I actually watched Go Wets Young Meowth and Meowth Rules shortly after getting into that Pokemon conversation with ChaRB, so much nostalgia! You should totally check those two out sometime as well, they're two of *the* best Meowth episodes, ever. Bound for Trouble is a good one too but the first two are my favorites.
