Has this actually happened to me once in minecraft? No... It has happened like FOUR GOD DAMNED TIMES! (well... excluding the finding of the signed copy of the bible
) lol, it is so frustrating to hear diamond tools melt as the game over screen appears 
Anyways, aside finding giant caves full of treasure and lava while digging, minecraft is so amazing and addicting, I must have dropped like 30 hours into it. I'd say the next biggest story would have to be me deciding to build an under water observatory, or a huge rail bridge and rail system leading underground, only to discover 6 hours has flown by without me noticing

Surprisingly, this has never happened to me. But I have wandered into lava on my own...
I very rarely ever carry my diamond-based gear with me. Even my diamond pickaxe due to the fact that my house floats and can only be reached by an elevator. Iron is really my best material (because I got at least 18 stacks).

Actually, they're still pretty common. Yet I've been lucky enough to be in an area where there's not many lava pools like that. There's actually 1 nearby my house above-ground (well, before I dumped water in it to get obsidian).

You know, it's always the skeletons who get me with that... or me when I ran into one of my lava walls and got stuck. Not my proudest moment.
