Description Day ##
The bone sample has bonded with the soul fragment. This progress exceeds any possible expectations that I had. The vortex of magic around the soul is in constant changeability, although it displays a large lump on one end.

Day ##
The lump is becoming a persistent feature. It has begun to form four tendrils of magic from the main mass. (And they have been constant since manifested.)

Day ##
The specimen has its vortex starting to deform in the same way. The four extrusions have branched into five little ones on each end. (It resembles fingers in a way.) Definitely going to observe closer to see if this trend is exponential.

Day ##
The large nodule has seemed to develop some kind of partial perforation in a loosely triangular configuration. They somewhat resemble—__ …

Eye sockets.

“oh fuck- shit- fuck no!” Sans’ clipboard and pen he was holding fell harshly to the ground. The royal scientist covered his always smiling face as his functional left eye darkened, his smiling narrowing down. “fuck, fuck… the data didn’t suggest this.”

He kneeled down to grab the items he had just dropped because of the shock. He stood up while panicky searching for answers on his clipboard. There it was. The data did suggest that there was a high percentage of that happening, but he held firm to believe it wouldn’t be the case, that it would even be possible. Not even possible…

“god, this isn’t good.” His gaze concentrated on the bright tube filled with the M-D solution. “you weren’t supposed to look like a skeleton, you weren’t!” He placed a hand on the glass, staring at the little skeleton who looked like a newborn, resting peacefully.

“you weren’t supposed to look like him…” He supposed he only had himself to blame, he thought to himself. There wasn’t really anything he could do, the progress was done and he couldn’t go back to square one.

What was he going to say to Papyrus? He said that the specimen wouldn’t be sentient. What would happen if his brother realized that turned out to be a lie? Sans regretted having to ask him for the material, now he couldn’t prevent Papyrus from being involved in the experiment.

He concluded that this couldn’t be reversed or solved in anyway. He might as well continue, right?

… Things were going to worsen more.

Day ##
The specimen has yet to show any signs of life, movement, change, or growth for over a week. It might as well be classified as a mummy in an museum. It isn’t any benefit for the experiment like this; I need it alive. I can’t give up on this experiment after all this progress. There must something; anything to get it to break out of this state. There just has to.

*Beep, beep*

A loud yet constant beeping came out of the health monitor. It felt so sudden that Sans wasn’t able to react for a couple of seconds.

“did it… it did… it worked!” He beamed with a sudden rush of excitement. Staring at the tube he saw the little skeleton move slightly, like a baby waking up from their nap. “you’re moving…”

He stood up rapidly, shoving with his hands everything that was on the grey desk to get nearer and nearer. “you’re moving! you’re actually moving!!” His permanent smile was enlarging so much that it looked painful.

“oh my god, it worked! it worked! i did it!” He placed carefully a hand on the glass tube while still grinning widely. “you’re alive!”

In what felt like decades, centuries, even eternity, he felt the glow of happiness within himself. His left eye glowed gleefully a bright shade of green. A rush of happiness and warmth that he didn’t want to get rid of at that moment. It felt just at that moment that everything was going to be alright. At that moment. Just that moment. He let out a long breath he didn’t know he was containing. He did it.

“you’re alive…”

Unfortunately that happiness was counted in mere minutes. Don’t get attached. Don’t forget about what is going to happen. But does it matter right now? Everything was okay now… no need to ruin the moment.

Weeks passed. What was Sans even doing at this point? His brother wasn’t the type of person to return to the house very often, but this was too much. How long has Sans even been in the lab? Papyrus had to call him, and he didn’t even want to know what type of monstrosity his brother had made with the finger he gave him.

His missing finger… it did nothing but stir even more trouble for Papyrus. A reminder of what he had done, reminder of what his brother was doing. Every single day. Never stopping the fear. The tall skeleton grabbed his phone and dialed the phone number of his brother.

It ringed for a few seconds before being responded.

“yeah? paps?” He heard the voice of his brother, he sounded okay! Papyrus signed in relief.

“BROTHER… YOU HAVE BEEN IN YOUR LAB FOR TOO LONG… I AM STARTING TO WORRY.” He was met with silence for a few seconds. Each second making the tall skeleton even more anxious.

“do you want to come to the lab?” Was his brother actually inviting him to his lab? Papyrus eyes sparkled with excitement.

“…WOULD YOU LET ME?”

“yeah… it would be okay. besides, it was with your ‘help’ i managed to do this.”

“OKAY! I AM COMING THERE RIGHT NOW!” He beamed loudly.

“okay, see ya.” The call ended.

Papyrus rushed out of his home, he wanted to see what his genius brother was up to.

He entered that dark and silent place again. No matter how many times he had visited this place, it always seemed to take place in a horror game. He walked through the hallways. Everything was so quiet, it was almost uncertain. His shoes made sound every single time he took a step down the concrete.

He opened the door quietly, expecting the worst. But what he saw made him shocked. Was that… It was a little skeleton! Well… not so little, it looked like a toddler, but it was a child! A child skeleton!

He beamed with joy and excitement seeing the skeleton sleeping in the big glass tube filled with a blue liquid. He was so surprised at how his brother made that amazing achievement! To create another skeleton! To be fair, his brother was a genius, and that’s why he was the royal scientist.

“OH MY GOD, SANS…” He was at a loss for words. Nothing could describe the happiness that he was feeling at the moment. “THIS IS AMAZING, I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!”

Papyrus grabbed his brother as if he was a plushie, and held him close. A warm and tight hug envolved Sans, which he reciprocated. His brother was the best. He was a genius! Everything was going to be okay!

Or will it?
