Edit
I've noticing some people is thinking this comic is ending with it suggesting Bendy and Alice being a couple. I can tell you that that's not the case. Alice is blushing because of Bendy's comment to her new appearance. Not because she's in love. In the game, monster Alice (if we can call her that) was obsessed with becoming beautiful, so I kinda though "what if cartoon Alice likes to get compliments about her looks then". Just like a fun little headcanon for her. But I now see that the message didn't quite come out like that.

I apologize for the misunderstanding, and I will have in mind to make sure that the messages I want to sent out, is a lot clearer in future comics.

So once again, this is not meant to be a shipping moment of Bendy and Alice.
End of Edits

Well, this is it. This is the end of my comic Angel In Decay. It's kinda weird it's come to an end already. I really enjoyed making this and I can tell you that I'm definitely gonna make more comics in the future!!
But I will say that it's gonna be nice working no some new art pieces from other franchises as well.

But seriously, I didn't think so many people would enjoy this. Thank you so much for all the support!! It has really meant a lot to me.

But now I would like to hear what you think of it. Do you think it was okay? Is there anything I could have done better? I'm not very experienced with making comics, since this is only my second comic with more than one page. So I would love to become better!
I know there was a few spelling errors in it, and I've tried my best to correct them as soon as they came to my attention. But I hope they weren't too distracting or made it too difficult to understand what the characters said.

But, I overall hope you enjoyed this silly little comic.
Thanks a lot reading it to the end.

Sorry, blushing can only possibly mean infatuation or embarrassment.  That's the rules.

And it’s definitely not because she’s in love. Not in this situation.
And when people blush, it can other things as well. Not only these two things.

But in this situation, Alice is blushing over Bendy’s comment to her new appearance. That’s it.

Ah goodness, I really should have commented on this last page ages ago...

Ok, so to give a disclaimer before I give a full critique of the whole comic, I want to say that I don't know too much about comics. Most of the stuff I've learned has been from studying what other artists have done, or from Scott McCloud's book "Understanding Comics" (which is a very good guide for comic terminology I will say that). I've only made one comic myself, and it isn't a masterpiece (it really doesn't compare to a lot of comics, but it's a starting point for me ). So while I don't have too much experience with comics, there will be some sections that I may not be able to give details on because I don't know the full science behind comics.

I want to start this off by saying that it was an absolute joy seeing you publish this comic Sophie. I know you publish another comic before this one, but I wasn't a watcher during that time, so I never got to experience it. When you published the pages to this comic, it was a ride. Always waiting for that next page, only to rush to it the second I saw it in my Notifications because I had to know what happened next. The timing in between when you posted these pages was very good, and I don't know if that's a commendable thing in comics, but your publishing schedule allowed for consistency and it made it a lot more fun to know when the next comic page was coming out!

Another thing this comic did extremely well was mimic the art style of the old (American... though I don't know if other countries had cartoons like the US) cartoons. Not only was this absolutely cleanly lined and shaded, this also portrayed the characters in a way that really felt in tune with the universe, and it did so much to emphasize the story! Speaking of settings and worlds, the world you designed for the characters, again, really felt like they were in an old-timey cartoon, and it felt so, *so* immersive. It felt like I was diving into a clearly defined world, and when I kept coming back, it felt like being in that world. The consistency of the backgrounds and the creativity of the environments were fantastic, at least to me.

Admittedly, I'm not a fan of BATIM. I don't know much about the universe, and while the characters are charming, the game wasn't for me (I don't dislike it, I just couldn't get a deep enough interest in it). Nonetheless, reading this comic was a wonderful way for me to immerse myself in the characters, and while I can't speak from experience, the characters seemed very in character, and a lot of their motives made sense! I'm extremely glad I looked at this comic, since the character interactions and arcs were wonderful to see, and every page just inspired me to draw the characters. It was a ride, and many times throughout this comic I couldn't help but want to draw Bendy! The expressions of the characters were some of my favorite parts of this comic: a combination of character motivation and art style, it was amazing to see each unique expression!

OH! Almost forgot! Rebecca Burns was a blast!! I loved seeing this evil lady with so much power and control over others, and her inclusion (along with Sammy) really made the world feel more alive! With more characters besides the ones we already know, it adds breath and mystery to the universe, and it gives the audience a hook as to what new personalities they can see. Rebecca was well-written and designed, and had such a distinct personality that she hooked me right in! I liked that she wasn't there for much of the story (especially since this story is meant to focus on Alice's transformation), and her inclusion, like I mentioned before, built up the world around her and gave the characters some new material they could use to both drive the conflict and flesh out the world around them. Overall, Rebecca was amazing and I'm so glad she was included in this comic!

Little talked about thing, so this is more of a note on my part, but the effects you used (the shapes of the word bubble, the effects behind Alice as she gets more and more furious, etc.) emphasized everything about the character's feelings, and every one of them did a fantastic job at following the "Show, don't Tell" rule. They also felt in tune with the cartoon style of the universe, and in the end, it felt like everything came together.

Last, but certainly not least, the overall story to the comic (a disclaimer, this is where my critiques come in). The plot behind the story was pretty good, and the arcs that happened were also solid in design. The set-up for the story was great, and the build-up was one of the strongest parts of the story, however, the ending and the pacing of the story are the weakest parts to this comic. One of the things that felt a little off was how quickly the entire comic wrapped up the ending of the story. There were many pages of build-up before them, almost half the comic was seeing Alice's anger at Bendy and her transformation into a devilish angel. The ending comes about two pages later, and... well, at least to me, it feels a little rushed. I totally understand the time constraints (it's hard to work continuously on something for a large amount of time, and doing something consistently over eleven weeks is a little hard for me to demand you should do), and the problem of trying to come up with a good ending that leaves others satisfied (that's not to say either of those were a problem for you, but if they were, I do understand if they were). The ending may have benefited from another page or two, perhaps where Alice is a little more hesitant to forgive Bendy until he really takes her feelings seriously (a good point to add a moment of silence to show him considering her words), and then have them warm back up to each other. I don't know if that matches up with the characters of BATIM, but it could give a little more room for the ending to breathe and settle in. All in all, there are tons of things that are fantastic about this comic, though the pacing of the ending and the story-part of the ending could have benefited with a couple more pages and a little more conflict resolution. In other words, try to balance the ending with the build-up, as to allow a more natural flow of the story.

Other than that, I loved this comic, and I cannot wait until your next one! It was exciting to read a new page every week, and for your second comic, it was a fantastic read! There are probably a lot of other things I could talk about in this critique, but I'll leave the more technical comic analysis to someone that might know it better than me (the only exception being the story, as stories are what I study so that's where I can give most of my critique). I hope whatever critiques I could give can help on your next comic, and I wish you luck with your next comic project! Thank you for making this sweet comic, and with that...

Incredible job on this comic! Keep up the epic work!

Haha, trust me, even though you say that you don’t know much too about comic, this is a really good review. At least in my opinion.
(And Scott McCloud’s book “Understanding comics” is a really good book. I brought it myself a few months back and found it really useful when I made this comic.)

Aah, I’m so so happy to hear that you enjoyed this!!! It really means a lot for me to hear!

About Alice and Bendy’s personalities, there actually hasn’t been revealed much of how they’re like. I believe we’ve only seen a bit of Bendy through the short cartoons, being that he’s a bit of a trouble maker. While with Alice, there’s nothing.
So for the most part about their personalities, I’ve improvised and went with what I think would fit them best. :’D

And I’m super glad tat you enjoyed Rebecca Burns. I was really debating on whatever or not to include her. But I decided to add her to make the cast of characters a little bigger, (so that the world felt a little more alive) and to add another personality type.

After reading the comic multiple times through the past couple of weeks, I do agree with you about the ending. It do feel rushed. Ah, not gonna lie, it annoys me! It definitely wasn’t done on purpose, haha. XD
But on a positive side, it’s a mistake I will learn from. Thanks for pointing it out for me. I’m definitely going to keep an eye on that the next time I make a comic.

I know I’ve said this before, but thank you so much for taking time to make this criticism. It was such a joy to read through and I couldn’t help but smile.
(I’m really sorry that my reply to your criticism is so late! XD)

(No prob on writing a response that's a little late, I've done the same many times before )

I guess I might have to play the game to see if there's anything else personality-wise, but nonetheless, I liked your versions of them, and their personalities really inspired me!! And I totally understand that you didn't do anything on purpose! I totally get that. I've definitely had those moments where I wrote something, thought it was fantastic, and then the second I hit Publish (or better yet, weeks afterward), suddenly I find like twenty writing mistakes and a couple typos I missed after combing through the work many times over and AHHH it's the worst ! Your comic was a blast to read either way, and I can't wait to see the next one you make!

Dimonds456 In reply to Sofie-Spangenberg [2018-09-10 09:27:13 +0000 UTC]

Well, I see a few different directions you could go with it.

For one, Bendy somehow persuades Alice to join him in getting the money, promising not to get caught doing anything wrong. So they start off simple, like a lemonade stand or something. Bendy realizes he’s running out of time and then pulls a Humpty Dumpty from Puss in Boots and tricks Alice into helping him rob a bank (he later says that he kept his promise. They didn’t get caught, did they?) and she’s furious at him. Then there’s 3 ways to go from there, either she quits and Bendy returns the money so she’d help him again, she helps him un-rob the bank, or while un-robbing the bank himself he gets caught and taken in by Rebecca.

Secondly, Bendy could just start off alone and Alice sees how he’s not getting anywhere, so she brings new ideas to the table like the lemonade stand, a bake sale, stuff like that. Bendy agrees, but either he thinks it’s going too slow, he’s running out of time, or a combo between those. Same endings as above.

Thirdly, he winds up being taken in for the debt and Alice has to break him out. This could be a follow-up or start from right there. The story would follow Alice as she sneaks in, what arrested Bendy has to go through in the meanwhile, and their escape, filled to the brim with cartoon physics and logic of course.

And those are just to get you started should you continue this storyline. You could also touch on what Bendy’s debt was, the Butcher Gang’s loyalty to Jessica, other storylines that involve pick-pocketing people, stuff like that.

Should you chose to continue, I’ll be excited for what you do with this.

And don’t worry, I don’t think this is gonna be the last time we see Rebecca Burns. I like more than I thought I would when I made her, so it would be a shame to just leave her here. I definitely want to draw her more, and who knows, maybe if I make another Bendy comic, she might make another appearance.
And that’s a good question. Maybe she’s one of those characters who never got into the real world thanks to the ink machine. Or maybe she is there, hiding deep within the studio. It would be fun to see how she would look like. It could be an interesting idea for a drawing.
