Description This was my first SLR. When I started to get into photography my grandfather gave me his old camera and it's lenses and I had so much fun with it. Some of the lenses (like the Yashica 135 mm in the picture) have fungus in them, so they're not really usable, but still a lot of fun.

Really beautiful, it really great concept. And it wouldn't cost that much, a few hundred dollars to repair probably, a new 35mm Film Camera would be under that. You can get much better pictures via film, that's dead on it's just a costly process and you can't do color on your own. (Not to mention it's time consuming... )

I got my grandfathers old Pentax camera when he died which was about 2 years ago now. It looks similar to this one. I still haven't had a chance to try it out yet. I don't even know how to use it

It's not that different from the DSLRs. He gave me a couple of books about photography too and the instructions manual. The main problem is that some things are broken (*i don't know the name in english* like the thing that measures the light in a picture) and that film costs a lot and when you're still trying the camera out most pictures are horrible x)

I have a manual too but like most people I can't be bothered reading it. Also I have only ever used digital cameras which are completely automatic so I know hardly anything about it. My uncle tried to teach me once but it was a while ago now and I haven't touched it since so I forgot most of it.
Could you get the parts fixed it would that cost as much as a new camera?
Do you think digital or film gives a better picture?

It would probably cost me as much as a new camera. I don't know, I haven't tried to get them fixed, and I probably won't. Maybe I'll ask how much it costs to get it fixed in a near future, but I probably won't be able to afford it...

I'm in love with my DSLR, especially because I'm learning new things about it every day... I believe that you can probably get a better picture if you use film and you develop it yourself and if you really know about film photography. However, digital is way easier and you can still use DSLRs like film cameras - with the pro that you can edit/fix them on a computer and that's way easier than doing it by hand...
But I haven't tried that much film photography anyways, so ^^'

Ok, thanks. Maybe one day I will try it. I probably won't have time until I finish year 12 or maybe I could try to use it as part of my school art, then it would be counted as homework right? and I wouldn't feel so bad about spending so much time and money on it. But I dont think I would be able to develop it myself, I know almost nothing about film photography.
Good luck with getting your camera fixed!
