The queen was standing in a vast, but empty, room in which they told her to wait for the emperor. There were only two chairs, one coffee table with wine between them and on the wall, which they were facing, a huge painting. This room was well known to her, it's white painted walls with golden ornaments of stucco plaster. Often she would just pass by and peek through the door to see the painting that was hanging here. That was a portrait of king Archibald.

Queen's grandfather. She's obsessed with the idea of him. Since he is long dead there are only stories left. In history books he is known as a great conqueror, but to those who knew him more closely he is nothing but a tyrant. She doesn't really go in the category of knowing him since she was his favorite granddaughter and died when she was 10 years old.

Anyway, you might recognize my reference. At least, the fans of Russian royal family (like myself) surely will.
