Like harvesting eggs from chicken, or milk from cows. The Changelings sees other living beings the same way we see cattle, normally harvesting emotions from other living beings.

It's okay, sir changeling. You don't have to like drinking in order to be accepted into the echelons of Equestrian society. You and your leader merely need to stop threatening and engaging in kidnappings and insurrection, stop hurting and possibly killing (through love drainage) those with whom you and/or your leader come into contact, and contribute something valuable to surrounding society.
