Description
I've always loved these two animated characters and I've been meaning to draw them for a long time. I tried a program called Artrage for this picture and it's a really fascinating program. it kind of emulates natural mediums but obviously I didn't take full advantage of it because I'm so used to regular digital art.For Kimba I kind of combined how his father looks in the 2009 movie and how Kimba looks like in the 1997 movie. In the 1997 movie he has brown eyes but I added the blue eyes (that Panja (his father) and him in the older animated Kimba series have).Β
Anyway I really enjoyed drawing this and I feel like I finally made some justice for these two handsome characters. As I said I really love these two series (Lion King & Kimba the white lion/Jungle emperor leo) and might do some more art of them in the future. (First I'm going to start focusing on practicing human anatomy though. It's a subject I've been avoiding way too much for no good reason because I really enjoy drawing human characters.)
This picture took about 24 hours (+ possibly a few hours).

Nothing short of amazing! I still think that Disney should be forvibly downsized, as the company is so rife with corruption and are lacking in passion for the very subject matter that they work with. Vanity and profit are NOT what writing and producing a good cartoon should be about. The work should be used to facilitate old-fashioned moral development for both youth and adults who take an interest in storytelling/myth/world-building- an end unto itself, rather then a means of making money.

They both look so majestic as they stand in the wind in their respective landscapes. I love how the colors really work to bring out what kind of kings we're looking at here. ^^

Wow. Nice work. ^^ I love the colours, the background, everything... ArtRage is a nice program, but doesn't have that many tools for basic digital art.

Thanks! Actually the reason I like Artrage is because it forces me to be a bit loose or think differently about the painting process. It makes me feel like I'm putting color on a real canvas. I'm used to doing very precise drawings (by this I mean put unnecessary detail everywhere instead of just focusing on the most important parts) and being a bit more loose is actually hard for me (but hopefully I'll get better at it).Β
