Description
Practicing with Painter 11 (I really think who ever designed this program was not thinking clearly, ugh.)COLOR!
I really need a tablet
*I am only using painter 11 as a practice and sketching for real paintings, I will continue to use oil paints (oil is far superior than digital in my opinion)*
*I took a picture of myself*

As usual your strongest point is color relationship. Great treatment of edges. Love the way areas go in and out of focus seamlessly. I also share the same opinion about digital versus traditional painting btw.

Thanks
Thats exactly what all my teachers have told me
I still like digital, I just think its a little over used these days... and there is something so much more fulfilling about using real oil paints...

You have good teachers. I do not dislike digital media. My opinion is quite the opposite. Still nothing beats the real thing when it comes to saturation, texture, and luminosity.

This really is a beautiful piece - as well as the subject matter!
You've captured the lighting gorgeously!
The fact that you did this with just a mouse is certainly incredible. I hope that you get a chance to use a tablet - it'll still be easier for you to use oils but hopefully it'll not be as bad as just a mouse.
On the subject of tablets, it'd be great if you get a chance to use some before you buy - there are lots of different options out there with differing pressure sensitivity and the more expensive also takes the tilt of the pen into account too so it's good to play with them first.

Excellent! You have the best.
I've been wanting to upgrade to an Intuos for some time but I've got to do a lot more digital painting to warrant the price. It's a shame I don't have friends like yours.
I will look forward to more great art from you now that you're even better equipped!

it looks good, but what about the oils you used to do? It came out beautiful, but i have mixed feelings abouit t...some people can paint mixing and blending thier colors by eye and some can only paint digitaly... i really love your work, but a little sad.PS i just read your comment on your artist statement...nevermind what i said....lol you are so blessed with what you can do stop wasting your time on the PC programs......i might get some feed back from this comment, but thats how i feel.

I totally agree!!!!!! I will never stop painting with oil!
I am only playing around with this because #1. I got the "cheap version" in China
(I would never pay money for that crappy program, sorry but true.) #2. Because I had to pack up all my painting gear and ship it home before I go back to the U.S.
Its still better than sitting around doing nothing
