Description
Just a bit of CPU fan art I cooked up... Because we all like our underdogs."Zen Uprising" symbolizes AMD's very swift comeback to technical relevance during the years of 2017 and 2018 with the development of the Zen microarchitecture. When first released, Zen had more cores, better performance and higher energy efficiency than their competitors from Intel. Zen also cost considerably less than the closest Intel competition and has become a mainstay in the consumer PC market. Zen is still very much in demand and the next generation of processors from this family, Zen 4, will introduce yet more cores and I/O, higher efficiency and performance and the same low-cost scalability that has become a killer trait for PC gaming and high-performing workstations and laptops.
A hallmark of this family of chips is their broad interchangeability across generations, usually with no more than a UEFI firmware upgrade. This has helped ensure the success of Zen for years to come. Zen, Zen+, Zen 2 and Zen 3 have all used the same sockets and motherboards, requiring UEFI upgrades to bridge across some of the generations, allowing re-use of existing motherboards when upgrading from one generation of processor to the next. Although Zen 4 is expected to introduce new and incompatible sockets in the form of AM5 for desktop and SP5 for server, it is predicted that the same model of cross-generational compatibility will hold true for these processors.
The package renders were drawn at a scale of 404 pixels per scale inch. Layering and transparency were added in GIMP. This is the first piece I've done in GIMP and the first to have been built in layers using transparency effects to eliminate the unneeded whitespaces from the source BMP files. Very, very easy to do and I'm pleased with the result.
