Crossover with this [link] requested by someone on /mlp/. I've experimented with the shading and coloring here and am not particularly happy... Maybe it's because of SAI, maybe I'm doing something wrong, I dunno. I'm gonna try Photoshop, I think.Related content

Я никогда особо не понимал, что означает темная черточка, которой обозначают нос. Скорее всего, это тень на переносице при виде в фас. Поэтому в таком положении я попытался выделить нос бликом, но, видимо, не очень удачно.

Thank you! The eyes... they're not really different from what I've been drawing lately: some shadows and highlights and a thick layer of eyelashes. And the shadows around them so they look like actual eyes and not painted on a sphere

Well, all I'm seeing that could be adjusted is the reflection of light. Seeing how light seems to hit her hair, you would expect that light to be reflected on the barrel atop her head slightly in the same color as the hair itself.
Her right hoof would also reflect light to her purple strand of hair.
That's all I can notice that could be off.

I'm also not sure where the light source is.
Light seems to be in front of her on the barrel, but seems to be in the back of her on her.

I've tried to add a texture to it but it didn't end well. I need more still-life drawing practiceL it's easier for me to draw a pony rather than a simple bucket lol.

The lighting. It looks too bright. In fact it was even brighter at first, I had to tone it down... I've tried to paint colors over the shaded grayscale image and when I started adding the colors the picture turned out completely unexpected. It's so confusing... The only positive side I see to it is that I've finally manadeg to make the shadows deep and dark - something I was afraid to do before.

i love how the colours blend together, especially at the front, but in general this is one of the best manes I've seen on her in a long time, not just the generic "show" mane most people do, this on is far more vibrant and alive...

I guess it's because of a strong contrast... Usually I have a lesser difference in values between the highlights and shadows, but this time it was an experiment. I'm still not sure if it was successful: it doesn't look quite like I wanted it to, but it's pretty in its own way.
