Dove into the eye. First, refresher course on structure. Then drawing eyes together as they appear on the face. Then started putting it all together in the head. The fog lifted at last. That's what happens when you start attending to things you do automatically, whether it's art or sports - when you analyze skills that you do automatically, you screw them up! haha. But as crushing as that 40 percent drop in performance feels, it's temporary. And when it passes, after you've integrated the knew knowledge, it raises the baseline. Now, you're better than before.So, today I went online into DA Galleries and Posemaniacs looking for eye/face references. At PM they have a face gallery of AI generated portraits. They look like photos, so I figured, why not? But at DA when I did the same thing I discovered flaws in the rendering of eyes. Nothing beats life studies and direct observation.
BTW - only eight of the ten were drawn after AI generated reference. Two were done from imagination. I guess I got carried away.
