This is a very interesting work! I think you managed to capture the essence of Meredith's character as she appears in Act 3 here, well done!
In the beginning she might have had some good reasons of her own to be "strict" with mages, but I'm too much a mage supporter to believe her actions were caused only by red lyrium: I think Meredith started swerving from the path of righteousness well before being corrupted, but that's just my interpretation of course!

Thank you!
I'm so happy to read such a thorough comment
I too think that her personality had some... flaws. But it is so for every man, isn't it? (: I think, there is pretty good chance that she could overcome them, unless lyrium addiction first and red lyrium corruption next twisted her more and more. But of course, there were some decent foundation for the corruption.

You're welcome! The looks of your Meredith here really caught my eye!
And I guess you are right about everyone having their own peculiar "flaws". In Meredith's case, her understandable desire for order and control after what happened to her sister was ultimately taken too far by addiction and corruption. And I think this is what makes Meredith a very interesting "villain": she is not the purely evil opponent who is loathsome under every aspect, rather she looks like a normal person who got lost by taking the wrong way and now has gone too far to be saved.

Meredith is my fav antagonist by far.
Even though I'm a sucker for mages and mages rights (yay Anders! xD), I love the 'good people trying to do good things but screwing up while they think they're doing good' trope. She's a fantastic character and it really pains me DAII doesn't receive its deserved attention. Awesome work <3

Hey there, fellow mage supporter! ^o^
It is such a pleasure to read your comment. I feel the same way. And it is such a pity, that DAII is so underrated. Of course, it lacks some advantages of Origins, but it has plenty of its own. And I really love the story and the characters (want to draw them all! xD). DAII deserves much more attention and love, than it has now. >.<
Thank you!

I know right?!?!?!
The DLCs are pretty nice too (always priceless to see your silly siblings swooning over your gorgeous friends) <3
The perfect scenario of a tragedy unveiling right in front of you quest after quest, the way every little action (or lack of) connects with another and lead things astray...! This is what I love most about DAII, tbh. And you can't really say the game has an enemy, you just have a bunch of losers trying to survive the way they know how.
Well, better I stop blabbering, 'cause I could go on about this forever xD

Hell yes! 👍: 0 ⏩: 1
The story is so dramatic and (dont know, how to say it right) 'personal'. With the Hawke (I do love Hawkes!) being so full of life instead of being the 'symbol'. The way plot events affects the characters (and particularly) is so... emotional. (I think, I'll never be able to forget 'All that remains'...)
And yes, no 'clear' enemy, only personal problems and social conflicts. (And you can freely do the side quests without constant thinking: "Blight is here, traitor occupied the throne, what the hell am I doing here, helping
Also I do love DAII visual style. Both, designs and artworks. I could stare at those loading screens forever! @__@
Ha-ha, I too could speak about it forever ^o^ The only thing that stops me is my poor english, so I cant properly formulate my thoughts. (:
I didn't feel so inspired for quiet a long time. This game caught me and will never set me free, I think.
Oh, and I'm in love with Qunari here, he-he. ^o^
Myunna-sama In reply to Solanj [2015-11-13 22:01:26 +0000 UTC]
AHAHAHAHAHAHA
WHO ISN'T IN LOVE WITH THE QUNARI AFTER GRUMPY ARISHOK??!
I mean, I love Sten, he's is great and has a big, soft heart under all his duty and honor behavior. And Grumpy Arishok is so stoic and righteous and tell me about those AWESOME horns?! I don't know what is wrong with me, I LOVE horned characters. And then DAI came in like a wreking ball with Iron Bull and I'm wasted for the Qunari xD
Yes, DAII have a plot directly related to the main character, this feels personal, this gets under your skin. I felt REALLY bad for All That Remains 'cause Leandra is not just Hawke's mother, she's your mother too! She has a motherly behavior thought for anyone relate with it and you get really attached to the Hawke family.
I can say I was lacking inspiration for a long time, then I played DAO last year and since then, I've drawing and writing more (english is not my first language too x3) and a year in this fandom refined my skills as my whole time at college wasn't capable of. I don't really see myself letting this go so soon c:

Qunari horns! *___* There is absolutely nothing wrong with you - who on the Earth can resist to these horns?!
And their philosophy and creed are so intresting and magnificient. I want to know so much more about their life, their society, their Qun. It looks realy glorious and Qunari's duty and honor and adherence to their creed are extremely admirable (and attractive!).
'gets under your skin' - is just the perfect description of DAII plot. It was exactly my feeling, which I didn'n know how to express.
After your words I'm even more inspired ^o^ It's time to go and draw something, I think

I love her character, the reasons she fights are the best.
Then again, good intentions often become the basis of tyranny and bloodshed.

"good intentions often become the basis of tyranny and bloodshed"
Oh, this is SO true.
I think this is the keynote of DA2 and, may be, the whole DA series. Along with "no one is totally right, no one is totally wrong", of course.
Thank you.

Garchompisbeast In reply to Solanj [2015-11-13 14:01:21 +0000 UTC]
indeed, her reasons being protection non Mages from those she sees as mere monsters
coupled with paranoia and the corrupting power of Red Lyrium she became worse than the Blood Mages she saw everywhere
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Solanj In reply to Garchompisbeast [2015-11-13 14:29:05 +0000 UTC]
I think, her paranoia was caused by 'normal' lyrium (The effects of lyrium addiction for templars include paranoia, obsession, and dementia) and then increased by the red one. And corruption, of course.
She really become a monster, but I can understand her and can sympathize with her, even though I favour mages. (And there is really PLENTY of maleficars in Kirkwall. =.= So she has decent reason)

Garchompisbeast In reply to Solanj [2015-11-13 15:59:34 +0000 UTC]
Malificars created by the Templars overbearing oppression
back a dog in a corner and it will bite you, you can't then act like it was unprovoked
the Templars kept pushing and pushing and pushing and then screamed monsters when the Mages fought back the only way they could
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Solanj In reply to Garchompisbeast [2015-11-13 16:46:31 +0000 UTC]
Templars also were provoked. (:
Some mages WILL become maleficars if they are free. Some will NEVER do so. Some can turn to blood magic only if they have no other way out. The problem is to distinguish these groups before some of them start 'biting'.
So templars are frightened by the first group - and they are right, while they are fighting this group. But they cant distinguish those group in time, and their action push third group to the edge and simply kills the second group. That's the tragedy.
If you just free the mages nothing good will come out. Some of them will start avenging previous 'torturers' - without distinguishing who really was guilty, who just followed their duty and even who tried to do the situation better. And some mages will start 'experiments'. With REALLY bad consequencies. And so on. Power corrupts.
(Do not take me wrong - I hate what is done with mages and I always support them. But mages are people, not angels. People who posess great power along with usual people's temptations and flaws. This fact shouldn't be overlooked)
The only way out is pervaisive social reform. Not a sudden one, but the one implemented carefully and gradually. Including a lot of educational activities to change the society's mind.
...
And this is totally impossible after the DAII events, unfortunately.

i sided wholly with the Mages in Inquisition, without restraints and constant watch Mages can live freely without the need to lash out at everyone
yes Blood Mages will still exist but they will be treated like normal criminals rather than demonizing their entire people

Solanj In reply to Garchompisbeast [2015-11-13 19:05:07 +0000 UTC]
Unfortunately I cant say anything about situation in Inquisition, because I didn't play it yet. (But I doubt that any conclusions can be made basing on comparatively short time interval of the game)
And maleficars a a bit more dangerous than normal criminals ^.~

Garchompisbeast In reply to Solanj [2015-11-13 23:21:23 +0000 UTC]
indeed but if all Mages aren't lumped in with them Mages could help combat them

Solanj In reply to Garchompisbeast [2015-11-14 12:57:58 +0000 UTC]
Problem is that maleficarum has too global consequences to not try to prevent it instead of fighting it after people are dead and the Veil is torn.
Of course, current system does not work properly and is too brutal to keep it. But complete freedom also does not seem as an adequate option. There should be the third way, but it is really hard to achieve.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Garchompisbeast In reply to Solanj [2015-11-14 13:26:28 +0000 UTC]
indeed
i went with full Mage freedom, yes there'll be consequences but with no oppression the number of Malificars will obviously fall and those who do cause trouble can be dealt with by fellow Mages
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Solanj In reply to Garchompisbeast [2015-11-14 20:35:22 +0000 UTC]
I still think that there should be the way do decrease this number even more.
But if it is the choice 'Kirkwall Circle way' vs 'Complete Freedom' the second option is obviously much more adequate.
But not ideal, though. (:
